Conflict of interest[edit]

Discussed on user's talk page. Tacyarg (talk) 21:56, 2 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This COI seems out of date since the article's content has changed materially in the last 3 years. I would like to delete the COI as discussion here on the matter seems dormant. Does anyone have a view? SteveCree2 (talk) 07:31, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I am removing the COI tag on this article. The original tag was initiated in 2018; the article has been substantially updated since then. I have tidied up the article too. The second COI, and what amounts to a third, are equally no longer in play. I should perhaps also say in respect of the third that claiming COI on the basis that an editor's IP is San Diego hardly constitutes meaningful evidence of COI. In addition, I have flagged my intention to remove the COI and asked for comment on the assumption that anyone with a particular interest in the COI tag will either have this article on their watchlist or will be monitoring it in another way. Another conflict of interest[edit]

"Calvinlarsen's" home page is filled with making changes to Wikipedia pages for Roger Jenkins and Sanela Diana Jenkins (Roger's former wife). This person is obviously very closely related to both of them. They are obviously very concerned about their Wikipedia pages: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Calvinlarsen

I have removed the particularly relevant material. I am not convinced it was COI but it is possible. The material was accurate and intended as a balancer to negative POV and claims which had become outdated. Since that material is no longer there, the COI tag does not seem appropriate. I would like to delete it. Does anyone here have a view on that (see also my note at Conflict of Interest)? SteveCree2 (talk) 07:28, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Reference to Roger's brother, David Jenkins, removed by IP address 107.77.231.47[edit]

I see that the reference to Roger's brother, David Jenkins, was removed by IP address 107.77.231.47 with the excuse that it is "irrelevant information about brother". Of course, it is not irrelevant information - particularly since Roger himself is now on trial and may end up a convicted felon as well. In any event, I looked up IP address 107.77.231.47, and curiously it traces to San Diego. That is where David Jenkins lives. It would appear that David Jenkins, or someone close to him, is editing the Roger Jenkins Wikipedia page.

I have amended the title of this section and a part of the first paragraph to remove what I think is negative POV directed at the subject of the article. It is true that Roger Jenkins' brother was convicted of a felony and this is reflected at the Wikipedia article about his brother. The manner of flagging it here, however, seems intended to harm Roger by association; in other words it seems malicious. As I have noted elsewhere on the Talk page, however, I agree that reference to the subject's brother is relevant at this page. I would be happy to discuss this, however. A more experienced editor or admin may have a view? SteveCree2 (talk) 09:58, 19 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Finally, for now, at the risk of over-egging my comments here, my comments begin with "I have amended...". The first para is unsigned and the effect of this is to make it appear to segue into my own comments. SteveCree2 (talk) 10:01, 19 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

General Edits[edit]

We must absolutely change the phrase "currently awaiting trial". He is not awaiting trial anymore. He has not been found guilty of all charges in February 2020. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.49.187.253 (talk) 09:48, 3 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have amended this article to remove aspects of negative POV. The COI is old and does not appear to be a valid complaint today. I agree that reference to David Jenkins is relevant at this page, but have removed an element of negative POV in that respect. SteveCree2 (talk) 07:18, 18 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Further to my last, it seems to me that the Wall St Journal investigation which gets a whole section in this article is no longer relevant. The newspaper report is 15 years old and there has been no follow-on. There is no evidence that any wrong doing was ever proven. As it stands, it seems to amount to a de facto negative POV. Does anyone have any thoughts? SteveCree2 (talk) 09:48, 19 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have changed the title of this talk section to better reflect its purpose. I am also going to change the title of the previous section as I think it is essentially negative POV of itself. Please inform me if editing a Talk section in this way is in some way out of order. It does seem to me that Talk section titles are sometimes used, as in this case, to smuggle negative POV in. Roger Jenkins is editing his own Wikipedia entry[edit]

Brother David Jenkins is convicted drug runner and become an informant[edit]

I see that Roger Jenkins has again tried to edit his own Wikipedia entry by deleting the proven information that his brother David is a convicted drug runner and later became an informant in order to reduce his sentence. Now we have his brother Roger trying to delete this information. Nice. But can't be done, Roger. Do you know who I am? I worked under you, under Allen Appen.
