Make love?[edit]

The use of the phrase "make love" in describing what seems, fairly straightforwardly, to be a rape scene does not strike me as tasteful or accurate. 140.247.41.254 (talk) 23:32, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The man "My grandfather" is guilty of abducting "my grandmother", not rape. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:249:807F:FA96:842C:469A:B664:EBE7 (talk) 09:19, 12 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I would agree on the qualification of the scene in the sorghum as rape, but I don't understand why the page insists on always calling the character as "Jiuer's rapist" for the whole page, when the movie absolutely does not emphasize this. He is thereafter mostly depicted as the husband & father, and characters never talk about it. Moral judgement of his action should not impact the description of the story. I would therefore propose to possibly keep the "rapist" mention for the part related to the scene, and switch to his character name or "husband" or "father" or related thereafter.106.129.201.121 (talk) 05:54, 10 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Location?[edit]

What province of China does the film take place in? Badagnani 01:36, 24 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The film takes place in Shandong Hanfresco 20:58, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The dramatic locale is Shandong. It looks like the movie was shot in northern Shaanxi. Colin McLarty (talk) 14:41, 19 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Revision[edit]

I took out a "citation needed" clause where somebody challenged the fact that this film received international praise. It won the top prize of the Berlin Film Festival (a Golden Bear) for the year the film came out; surely this is enough "international praise" to merit the validity of said statement?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.20.86.85 (talkcontribs) 15:34, 10 March 2007‎ (UTC)[reply]

I would think so, since much praise outside of the nation of China. There was praise is Berlin, Sydney, Zimbabwe, and other countries, all detailed in the article. mercator79 08:41, 11 June 2007 (UTC).[reply]

More revision[edit]

I just elaborated on the plot quite a bit to remove or clarify it. I did it as I was watching it, so it is accurate, at least to me. mercator79 08:41, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is beyond being just a stub. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mercator79 (talkcontribs) 08:42, 10 June 2007 (UTC

Poster[edit]

It's kind of odd that there's a Japanese poster for a Chinese movie (even if the original Chinese title is there in red). Is it possible to get a Chinese poster, or at least an English one? Jediknil (talk) 22:42, 31 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A good story but....

....Maybe someone who has seen the film can help improve the English !

As it is, some imagination is needed to get the real action
