Articles are fleeting - talk about articles is forever

so true

article change?

just wondering, why was this article rewritten around the 23rd or 24th of december? it seems to me that the article before that date was a lot more comprehensive and higher quality.

80's

The 80's section needs some editing by someone with knowledge of the band's history. In the fifth paragraph it says "Slovak and Irons quit the band," then in the last paragraph of the section, Irons apparently quits the band again, after Slovak's death. I don't know enough about RHCP to edit this properly, but could someone who does change it so it makes sense? Foxmulder 03:20, 11 August 2005 (UTC)

simple reason being that they were both involved with What is this, but when then slovak went back to do freaky styley and irons came back to do Uplift Mofo Party Plan, then Slovak died so irons quit. however irons actually has realeased a solo album there's a link to the official page at chilli's official site. Klyv

nice article, maybe feature it one day?

Bold text The band started in 1983, not 1982. You can check their official site (www.redhotchilipeppers.com) and see for yourself. I tried to correct it, but someone insists on keeping the incorrect date.

--It started in 82. The (amazing) demos in the Out in L.A. rarities album are copyrighted 1982.

--You are right. The demos are copyrighted in 1982 under the Tony Flow name. The band became the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1983.Jason1978 12:53, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Someone more ambitious than I may want to take a stab at the 00's and the 2005 section. There are some NPOV issues as well as some grammar from what appears to be a non-native English speaker. Oneballjay 02:19, 27 July 2005 (UTC)

Moved this from the article:

TODO:

  • dates for irons, smith - circumstances of change
  • track listings (hey, why not)
  • attribution of "sex ... more sex" (i did it from memory)

-- Zoe

This site is far more than a stub and looks deeply elaborated. Wouldn't it also be necessary/interesting to join the WP: Album? --KeyStorm 01:31, 27 Jun 2004 (UTC)

is a list of all songs the band made really necessary? I think it should be removed. - Xorx77 10:35, 29 Jun 2004 (UTC)

It seems like you didn't get the point of the Albums project. It's way more than only a tracklist. Tabulating facts is its central point.
well, sorry but this article is the only one with such a track listing, so I thought it was a bit odd. -Xorx77 19:12, 29 Jun 2004 (UTC)

I dont know your problem..i just want to know a page wheri can see names of song of som singles.....the thing is i live in argentina....and in argentina the singles album are not sell. so if i can see some names then i can download them..thank you.......you know what?....you are such a fucking cocky.......Im sorry my name is xorx77...jajajaja what kind of name is that??...fucking richass boy.......why dont you go kill some more people in irak...o even better select one more time bush for president...fucking ignorant....(by zuko) ---

I stumbled on the article What Is This? which appears to be related to the Chili Peppers. Perhaps a fan of the group would care to expand it? It's a terrible stub right now. --bodnotbod 19:48, Jul 17, 2004 (UTC)

It was a band containing Flea and Kiedis, plus Slovak and Irons, formerly called Anthym. When Slovak and Irons left RHCP, they renamed Anthym to What is This? and released a self-titled album, then the band pretty much fell apart. At least that's what I *think* the chronology is. ----Jkonrath 20:11, 21 Dec 2004 (UTC)

A list of all the band's songs may not be interesting for some/many people, but it's still informative. I think the idea is a good one, a usefull addition to this site's already impresive range of information of Rock music and Wiki could become one of the most excellent rock music resorces. If you dont like the track listing then dont look at it.

hi i like the page for the band but the page for anthony kiedis isnt very good and i cant seem to inprove it as i cant get photos so cud somebody plz nisen it up as i think he deserves it

I think that having thumbnails of their album covers and track listings on the main page is overkill. Compare to the Pearl Jam page. If no one mounts a serious objection, I will change it in a few days. -DaveTheRed 08:21, 21 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I have reinstated the thumbnails. They give the page much more colour and are an improvement over the table. Album covers show the creativeness of the artists and espicially in the case of the Red Hot Chili Peppers this is very arty. The article seems to be have more hype with the thumbnails included. ----Thomas Lewis 23:27, 29 Apr 2005 (UTC)

Is there a partcular reason Hillel Slovak keeps being referred to by his first name?

No idea. Anthony did the same thing in his memoir Scar Tissue (called him by his first name), though, so I don't think it matters that much. 69.155.15.179

Can we remove the tracklistings, its not necessary. The 2000s section regarding the new album is quite messy too.

i think the tracklisting should go into like a seperate section article, like Discography of Red Hot Chili Peppers or something. also rhcp is the best band ever. just in case anybody forgot. because it's true. carry on.

umm who ever you are (^up there) u r soo right they rock!

Discography

  • 1985 "Hollywood"

--> was missing

  • 1988 "Fight Like a Brave"

--> 1987

  • "Behind the Sun" can't be from 1988 because it's from mother's milk and with John, not Hillel.
  • 1990 "Taste The Pain"

--> was missing

--> was never a single

  • 1994 "Soul to Squeeze" (from the Coneheads soundtrack)

--> i have this single since august 1993 !!!

  • 1996 "Warped"

--> i have this single since sept. 1995, before OHM came out !!! it was the first OHM-Single!

  • 2001 "Parallel Universe"

--> 2000 ... the Australasia-Tour was 2000!!!

  • 2000 "Road Trippin'"

--> i have it since 2000!

Behind the sun was on Uplift mofo part plan, not mothers milk, so therefore must be a hillel track and not john --Jamster 23:19, 20 July 2005 (UTC)

I remember 'Love Rollercoaster' being in the UK Top 40, but it isn't in 'List of Singles'. Was this a Europe-only release or suchlike? Willard 00:26, 31 August 2005 (UTC)

Taste the Pain was not in 1990 but in 1988 as it was on the classic Mothers Milk album That is true who ever said that it was 1990 is an idiot

You should check your facts before you accuse people of being idiots. Mother's Milk was released in 1989, with Higher Ground and Knock Me Down being the first two singles in the same year, and Taste The Pain being the next single in the next year - 1990.

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS

'RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS' IS THE BEST BAND I'VE EVER SEEN! CREATIVE, EXELLENT MUSICIANS BUT ALSO NICE AND HUMOROUS CALIFORNIAN GUYS HAVE SUCCEEDED TO WIN PEOPLES' LOVE FROM THEIR EARLY STEPS IN THE WORLD OF MUSIC. HOWEVER, RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS' SOUND CAN NOT BE EASILY CHARACTERISED OR BE IN ONLY IN ANY SPESIFIC MUSIC CATEGORY. THIS IS BECAUSE THEIR MUSIC IS A FANTASTIC COMBINATION OF MANY CULTURES, SUCH US ROCK, FUNK, POP AND AMERICAN FOLK MUSIC.

Thanks for your comments on RHCP. If you feel the category on the article page is inaccurate, be bold and change it!

Side note: when you add to a talk page, please use proper case. People will think you are SHOUTING AT THEM when you only use all capital letters. Maybe you mean it to be LOUD, but it's difficult to read after a few words in a row. Also, if you have an wikiID, please sign your post with a ~~~~. That will automatically put your ID and date / time stamp after your message. Like this: Gbeeker 19:09, 28 July 2005 (UTC)

New Album?

does anyone know when the chili peppers visited Wales in the UK many years ago?

I noticed the name of the new album changed 3 times today.

Anyone have sources?

DrIdiot 22:57, 19 August 2005 (UTC)

- No sources, these are names being thrown around at complete random by those with nothing better to do.

I thought it was called Star of Affinity????

(where did the whole 2005 section go?!)

Can someone tell me when the new cd of the peppers will be released plz????? greetz den dooms

Here is your answer.........(by zuko)......from the official page of the RHCP News in April 2005 Peppers are back in the Studio!

The Red Hot Chili Peppers entered the studio to record their NEW ALBUM on March 16th 2005, and , as guitarist john expressed, are very enthusiastic about their new works! (For more go to johnfrusciante.com, 2nd news item : A Message to the Fans)

John Has got news for you!: Today John went into the studio with the Peppers to record the new Chilis album! he was very very enthusiastic about it and could not wait to delve into it heart & soul (..John Style!)(Published 16th March 2005. Summary source & direct quotes from a conversation with John on 15th March 2005/ the evening before entering the studio to record the new RHCP album)

My mate met Chad Smith at the MUSIC LIVE event in Birmingham on Saturday 5th November. He asked Chad about the new album and apparently a 2-disk album should be on sale by April 2006. rhcp.com arent giving many clues away about the new album, and are unlikely until it is about to go on sale.

Stadium Arcadium

The new album is to be titled Stadium Arcadium according to Flea. Perhaps someone could do the honours?

What about the album The Best of The Red Hot Chili Peppers? I found it first on their online store [1], and then here [2] (covers not the same, but track listing is, so I'm guessing it's the same) but why is it not in the discography?

they have a lot more stuff that's not in the discography by alot I mean like two more discs maybe... XD

Then WHY are they not listed?? --daunrealist 19:21, 4 December 2005 (UTC)

Their genre

I don't think RHCP is a funk band, they are more like alternative grunge-like. However, the closest thing to funk that I can even think of them doing is that they cover old RNB funk songs (e.g. "Higher Ground" by Stevie Wonder, "Love Rollercoaster" and "California Love") (unsigned comment from anon)

DON'T EVER call the chili peppers "GRUNGE" again!!! the chili peppers are far from "alternative grunge-like" to associate them with grunge is pathetic, and you obviously don't know anything about music if you say that they aren't funk-rock... sure they aren't as funk oriented as they used to be, but they're music can't be placed into a certain genre that only lasted like 5 years, it transcends that kind of thing- I'm an rhcp fanatic

[note: where above user comes from, "DON'T EVER call the chili peppers "GRUNGE" again!!! " is a standard greeting.]

WEll said their nothing like grunge at all, i got a nirvana cd, they are grunge, i was listening to both of them and found the closest it got would be Blood Sugar Sex Magik (the song) and also i agree that their genre can't be given a specific name as they are capaple of many different types of music. Klyv

Correct me if i'm wring but grunge involves lots of distortion and people shouting (like Smells Like Teen Spirit). the chilis use very little distortion and many of their songs just use clean guitars. also grunge tends to have a more regular rhythm whereas the chilis use syncopated rhythms. St jimmy 10:43, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

how can you get it so wrong... listen to their older albums such as freaky styley and it will be obvious to you that they are funk orientated. RHCP has changed their direction since mother's milk because of the change in guitarist, frusciante taking the centre stage with his killer melodies and flea sitting back on the bass backing him up, when previously with Slovak the music was centred around the bass and slovak was there to add decorations to the music. they are definitely not grunge.. but they have many different songs branching into different genres of rock, for example, take the song cabron. it can be classified as latin, and porcelain, soft rock.. i'm sorry but i'm very hard pressed to find a grunge song and the only album i do not own is Red Hot Chili Peppers.. so put up an example of a song that you think is grunge by them and, unless i'm mistaken you will be corrected by almost everybody who stumbles by this page

Funk Rock, Rap-Rock, Crossover, Alternative Rock, Pop-Rock, Funkcore

The chilis aren't alternative rock. That would insinuate that they use things like modal keys, odd time signatures and the like. They use classic rock/funk beats and rock keys.

Please sign on talk pages. They exhibit lots of funk influences on albums like Blood Sugar Sex Magik, but also have a lot of latin influences and show a lot of easy listening/soft rock voicings on albums like By The Way. You're not going to categorize them easily. I would personally agree with latin, rock, and funk as their genre. Apparently, concensus also labels them as funk metal, which I've always thought of as being more Extremeish. Either way, they show little to no alternative traits, and have no connection whatsoever to nu-metal or grunge, except that they are run on the same "new rock" radio stations as groups like Nirvana and Linkin Park. Also, alternative rock does not have "modal keys" or "odd time signatures." You're thinking of progressive rock. - Corbin 1 ɱ p s ɔ Rock on, dude! 19:40, 16 May 2006 (UTC)

Frusciante, Navarro, and Slovak

"Frusciante's return to the fold proved that no matter how talented Slovak and Navarro could be, the musical chemistry that enables a RHCP album to be launched into success is the current line-up with Frusciante, Kiedis, Smith and Flea. Mother's Milk, Blood Sugar Sex Magik, Californication and By the Way all atest to this fact."

To say that is a bit unfair, because Navarro and Slovak are all rightful members in their own way and contributed to the Red Hot Chili Peppers in their own way. Any of the three guitarists could fit into the definitive Chili Peppers sound; they could have been equally successful, and even though that with Frusciante, the Peppers had experienced its greatest success, it is not really fair to say that in that sense, because it gives the impression that the Chili Peppers are all about making their music a success and they said it themselves it is not about success. Personally, that is a highly disrespectful comment, especially to Hillel Slovak, because Hillel Slovak died before the Peppers could even become a true success.

Dave Navarro IS shit! Frusciante is THE shit!

Compilations

my friend told me that greatest hits was the order of their 14 most successful songs to the date it was made. Which would in a sense make sense why songs like Can't Stop and Zephyr Song aren't on it. but my question is that i'm pretty sure that aeroplane did better than parallel universe. And with another compilation this time being What hits?! would it be the same deal it was there most succeslful songs in rating order to that date. But it can't be as Under the Bridge is on there, and not Give it Away. which as the article confirms was a hit before Under the Bridge. For that reason i believe that the compilations are their own favourite choices. Klyv

Yes. Universally Speaking should never be favoured over Can't Stop..for example.. if we look at the songs their success. Therefore, you're probably right.SoothingR 17:04, 13 January 2006 (UTC)

Actually Greatest Hits was not in order of their 14 most successful songs. If it was in order of that, then Under The Bridge would have come after My Friends (Give It Away, Californication, Scar Tissue, Soul To Squeeze, Otherside, My Friends, Can't Stop, and By The Way all went #1)...their 14 most successful songs in order (a rough order based on appearance on the US Modern Rock chart) are...

1. Give It Away 2. Californication 3. Scar Tissue 4. Soul To Squeeze 5. Otherside 6. By The Way 7. Can't Stop 8. My Friends 9. Under The Bridge 10. Aeroplane 11. The Zephyr Song 12. Knock Me Down 13. Higher Ground 14. Parallel Universe

thanx for that

---> greatest hits came out before californication... it was greatest hits *to date*... as it's tough to have greatest hits on from albums that haven't been made yet...

Under the Covers

i read once that they had a compilation called "under the covers" but i haven't been able to find it anywhere else, i'm not even sure it exists-- Klyv

It exists. But I think it's out of print.

Yes. It does. It can be verified here.SoothingR 22:04, 14 January 2006 (UTC)

they only made several thousand copies. i got it a week after it came out and was available for about a year. most of the songs are available elsewhere, but for true collectors and fans, you have to have it.

I wish I could find all the covers listed on the page. In particular Neil Youngs 'Needle and the Damage Done' what a great song that is, I would love to hear their take on it. --Christopher.tomlinson@gmail.com 10:56, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

They have a few copies for sale in my local Record And Tape Traders store. Try a CD store like that if you have one because if they don't have it they can get it from another store--Jason1978 12:58, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Pea

i'm not 100% sure but i reckon the song Pea on One hot Minute is sung by flea.

Yes, It's sung by Flea ( Davehard 10:44, 5 February 2006 (UTC) )

It's Flea. You can tell it's a different voice. St jimmy 11:31, 23 April 2006 (UTC)

for that matter who sings the backing vocals for deep kick??

Why does this article look funny?

Someones messed up this article big time. It also looks too short.

Minutemen were the first band to fuse punk with funk. Not RHCP.

Actually...Defunkt was. --Paralleluniverse

All right. I took out that whole bit about the Peppers being the first band to fuse punk and funk. That title goes to Defunkt and the Minutemen, and even Gang of Four had a running start on the Peppers; I think the article is appropriate length, considering it is not too good to let an article about a band be too overblown as some commonly are on Wikipedia.--Paralleluniverse

ehh...i liked the longer one too...sometimes people want alot of info ~Flip~

Some people do like a lot of information, but this an encyclopedia entry about a band, not a full blown biography. If people want that they can go to Kiedis' memoirs. --Paralleluniverse

socks

I'm sorry, but I think something must be mentioned about RHCP putting socks around their penises at some point during their concerts. The origin if it can be found, how it began, etc...Sorry it's just that's the one thing that I associate penis in the sock with.

Im sure thelonious monster never did that. Never heard of that Thelonious band ! Bad article !!!

The socks thing started with when they were all living in an apartment from which the landlady removed the door because they wouldnt pay the rent. Anyway one of Anthonys Girls became obsessed with him but he wanted to end it so one time when she arrived at the flat he walked out with a sock on his cock. They did it first for an encore at the Kit Kat Club, much to the managers dismay as he had specifically specified no male pubic hair was to be put on show --Christopher.tomlinson@gmail.com 10:52, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

I just want to point out that the girl was not actually going out with Anthony she was just obsessed with him and sent him loads of, shall we say, inappropriate pictures.

NPOV

This article has major POV issues. For example, in the "1990's" section, the quote: "One Hot Minute...should be considered more as an experimental record than a real RHCP album" is a matter of opinion; there is no fact backing it up, and no citation listed indicating that the band members themselves think this. Another example is in the 1980's: "it featured a stunning rendition of Sly & the Family Stone's 'If You Want Me To Stay'." "Stunning" is a subjective modifier; this is an encyclopedia, not a band review site. The entire article needs to be conned for NPOV - but before anyone does it, I feel discussion is necessary. Baeritone 15:44, 14 April 2006 (UTC) heeeeellllllllllllllllllllllllllllls yeah

I'm pretty sure I fixed all that. St jimmy 11:50, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

Needless link?

Why does this article link to List of best selling music artists if Red Hot Chili Peppers is not listed on that list? Was a mistake made in this article or that one?

I removed the link - it can always be added again if RCHP get included on that list. Pako 19:33, 17 April 2006 (UTC)

Dani California Bands

I'm fairly certain that a few of those bands are mixed up. It currently reads

"The music video features the band dressed as famous performers from the 1950's until today including Elvis, The Beatles, Cream With Jimi Hendrix, Parliament-Funkadelic, Garry Glitter With David Bowie, The Sex Pistols, The Misfits, Poison,Nirvana and Avril Lavigne."

However, the 'Beatles' are actually Buddy Holly and his band. Also, what they describe as Avril Lavigne is really supposed to be RHCP themselves. You can tell because they all are dressed like the often are as of late.

I agree with this, they are definitely supposed to be The Crickets, not the Beatles. The glasses are a dead giveaway.

  • The fact that they have their logo in the background of the supposed 'Avril Lavigne' one
might mean you're right. Also, If you were going to pretend to be yourself (if that makes sense)
then you wouldn't NOT exaggerate it like they did in this clip... if that also makes sense.
  • who ever put in avril lavigne is just dumb. i suppose Anthony would have put on some makeup or clothes to look like a whiny girl. but he didnt.
I think Blink 182 would be better in place of Avril Lavinge. Dwnsjane2 04:57, 23 July 2006 (UTC)

Cleanup

I think we fixed the problems with this article and the cleanup and neutrality dispute tags should be removed. St jimmy 09:20, 24 April 2006 (UTC)

Agreed. I added headings to the history sections that are similar to those at Weezer and Led Zeppelin. Organization is much better now, even though I think "Other information" should be integrated with other sections rather than having its own section that has no notable place in this article. — Webdinger BLAH | SZ 23:47, 27 April 2006 (UTC)

i agree. ill do that as soon as i get the chance. St jimmy 13:07, 28 April 2006 (UTC)

Albums discography

The Greatest Hits Album is missing.

It's their studio albums' discography not general discography that's why... although I do also feel it should be included.

Anthony's rapping style

"His untraditional rapping (with the melody rather than the beat)...": This needs clarification. (Not to toot my own horn, but) I'm a trained musician, and I don't know what this means. (YiddishSoul 12:09, 30 April 2006 (UTC))

I've read on a biography for RHCP that Anthony Kiedis said to be influenced in his rapping style by rappers who collaborated with DJ Grandmaster Flash.

Antipiracy?

I thought the Chilis were strongly against Internet filesharing? As in, big press releases, public speaking, campaigns etc.? Shouldn't the article mention that somewhere? I don't have the faintest idea where research would begin for it, though... Tyrhinis 21:38, 3 May 2006 (UTC)

As well as putting copy-protection on their Greatest Hits St jimmy 11:46, 4 May 2006 (UTC)
The band doesn't put copy-protection labels on the back of CDs and on the CDs themselves, the record company does.
You might be interested to read this letter by flea. The one after it also has information on his views on piracy/leaking. http://www.redhotchilipeppers.com/news/journal.php?uid=213 71.120.228.154 05:46, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

-what number #1 hits? in the page there is a list of single and position in Billboards Top 100, Modern and mainsrtream rock chart..all u find in billboars site or in allmusic.com.. the uk chart database u can find here http://www.charts-surfer.de/musiksearch.php or here http://www.ukmix.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=34629&highlight=dani+california "Chart History Red Hot Chili Peppers 10.02.1990 6 Wks Peak : 54 Higher Ground 23.06.1990 3 Wks Peak : 29 Taste The Pain 14.03.1992 4 Wks Peak : 26 Under The Bridge 15.08.1992 3 Wks Peak : 41 Breaking The Girl 05.02.1994 6 Wks Peak : 9 Give It Away 30.04.1994 20 Wks Peak : 13 Under The Bridge (Re-Issue) 02.09.1995 5 Wks Peak : 31 Warped 21.10.1995 8 Wks Peak : 29 My Friends 17.02.1996 8 Wks Peak : 11 Aeroplane 14.06.1997 10 Wks Peak : 7 Love Rollercoaster 12.06.1999 28 Wks Peak : 15 Scar Tissue 04.09.1999 9 Wks Peak : 35 Around The World 12.02.2000 11 Wks Peak : 33 Otherside 19.08.2000 15 Wks Peak : 16 Californication 13.01.2001 6 Wks Peak : 30 Road Trippin' 13.07.2002 12 Wks Peak : 2 By The Way 26.10.2002 1 Wk Peak : 136 The Zephyr Song (Import) 02.11.2002 15 Wks Peak : 11 The Zephyr Song 22.02.2003 10 Wks Peak : 22 Can't Stop 28.06.2003 8 Wks Peak : 27 Universally Speaking 22.11.2003 11 Wks Peak : 11 Fortune Faded 06.05.2006 2 Wks Peak : 2 Dani California " zagozagozago

Sound Philosophy

209.5.62.75 - Why are you reverting back to blatant POV and bad writing?

The band is unique by being the first rock band in the world to fuse punk and funk, or "White sound" with "Black sound", way before Aerosmith and Run DMC featured "Walk This Way", although there were already white hip-hop bands in the early 1980s, such as The Beastie Boys. In fact, "Walk This Way" bears a strong resemblance to the RHCP's song "Fight Like a Brave" from their 1987 album The Uplift Mofo Party Plan and might have been influenced by the latter."

Besides, UNIQUE would imply that the CLASH were a figment of my imagination, or any of the UK and American punk bands with Ska and Reggae influences.

This is some of the worst text I've ever seen on Wikipedia that you're reverting to... not to mention that it's entirely biased and without reference. Xinit 23:52, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

Clash sound is very different, they were a punk band that take all..ska,reggae,r&b,funk,pop,wave..all..

peppers was different..was the first band that combine FUNK,PUNK,RAP,ROCK all togheter,in an unique style. the punk/funk already exist with post-punk bands like gang of four but problably was the first that combine it with rap zagozagozago

At best the above bit is written extremely poorly, at worst it's extreme POV... document them being the FIRST band to blend punk and funk. Take at look at UK 70s punk first... Xinit 17:00, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Intro, Genres

before there was: "Through line-up changes and personal problems, the band has crafted a sound that combines elements of funk, punk, psychedelia and pop."

i changed it and wrote: "Through line-up changes and personal problems, the band had started with original sound that combines elements of Funk, Punk, Rap, Psychedelic rock and lately Pop Rock."

i think is better and more correct..zagozagozago

Looks good to me. Xinit 17:03, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Related Bands, Totally Unnecessary??

i wrote Related Bands

"Bands the Red Hot Chili Peppers were influenced by

   * Funk of George Clinton, Sly Stone, Funkadelic, Parliament, James Brown.
   * Hardcore-Punk USA of Bad Brains, Germs, Black Flag, Dead Kennedys, Suicidal Tendencies, Big Boys
   * Post-Punk UK of Gang Of Four, Talking Heads
   * Rock '60/70 of The Stooges, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin
   * Old School Hip Hop of Kurtis Blow, Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambaataa

Same-scene Bands

Fishbone, Faith No More,Living Colour, Primus, Beastie Boys, Mr. Bungle, Jane's Addiction

Bands influenced by the Red Hot Chili Peppers

Infectious Grooves,Rage Against The Machine, 311, Sublime, Incubus, Korn, Bloodhound Gang, Sugar Ray, Limp Bizkit, Hot Action Cop, Rookie 7"

but WesleyDodds delete it, couse for him is "completely unnecessary".. instead i think that is a good thing, have in the band page also related bands..i think that all bands page must have it, is very usefull..IMHO..zagozagozago

Perhaps it's a matter of how they're related? Are you implying that they influenced the RHCP, or that they were influenced by or share members with the RHCP? Other than that, it's pretty subjective... I can't think of any real similarities between Limp Bizkit, Sugar Ray and the RHCP for example. Xinit 17:05, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
I mean related in style and genres..

"Bands the Red Hot Chili Peppers were influenced by" are the styles that influenced chili peppers, so the bands that ispired peppers sound "Same-scene Bands" are bands that are comparated at peppers in styles, start to play in similar epoca and often in similar USA's area "Bands influenced by the Red Hot Chili Peppers" are bands that are insipirated by the sound of early chili peppers (and othe bands for sure) or imitate some bass or guitar sounds (funky guitar, popping bass, hip hop rymes etc..) zagozagozago

Yeah, but like I mention, bands that sound similar or may have influenced the RHCP sound are arbitrary and subjective for the most part, unless they can be backed up. Reference an interview where Flea mentions people who influenced his playing style, otherwise you're just doing "original research" by listing bands... Oh, and you can auto-sign your posts with your name, date, and time by plaving four tildes (~) at the end of your entry on the talk page... Xinit 17:54, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

RATM is not of the same scene of peppers..the peppers same-scene was in late '80..RATM are of the start of '90 and was influenced by peppers too.. if no 311 too are a same-scene band?? first cd RATM = 1992, first cd 311 =1993.. maybe infectious grooves are more same-scene that RATM..zagozagozago 20 may 2006 20,27

discography in an other page??

always for User:WesleyDodds, why u delete discography in main page, and only linked to "red hot chili peppers discography" page?? i think is better have the discography in main page, not in other page linked. if it is an "Already on Discography page" we can delete discography "stand alone" page and put directly in main page, no?? zagozagozago

It's a general guidleine that when a page gets too big, we split off appropriate sections into new pages. Before splitting it off, the page was 42 kb, which hinders readbility for more than one reason. WesleyDodds 18:02, 19 May 2006 (UTC)

Covered songs

There was a list added, then removed, then edit warred over for a bit. Currently, the list is not there. So, do we want a section listing songs covered by RHCP, or no? Discuss. - Corbin Be excellent 07:52, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

The masturbatory list of covers is on the discography page. maxcap 12:28, 21 May 2006 (UTC)

"Learn to play guitar" videos

This is in answer to an email I recieved from Poppyto who has re-added links to a guitar tab / guitar education site...

From WP:EL, I can't find a single argument FOR the links, but I can find many against...

Links to normally avoid

Any site that contains factually inaccurate material or unverified original research, unless it is the official site of the article's subject or it is a notable proponent of a point of view in an article with multiple points of view. (See Wikipedia:Reliable sources for further information on this guideline.)

This is original research; tabs or video instruction often fall in that category.

Links that are added to promote a site. See External link spamming.

So far the extent of your contributions to WP are those links if I can judge by your contributions page

A website that you own or maintain (unless it is the official site of the subject of the article). If it is relevant and informative, mention it as a possible link on the talk page and wait for someone else to include it, or include the information directly in the article.

Combined with my point above, I become suspicious that you're promoting your own site, especially with your nickname appearing on contributions there.

Celestrial theme?

does anyone know if there is anything behind RHCP's planetary theme? We have: Behind the Sun, On Mercury, Subway to Venus, (earth), Disk 2 in Stadium Arcadium is named Mars, Disk 1 in Stadium Arcadium is named Jupiter, (saturn), (uranus), (neptune), (pluto) We also have: parallel universe, universally speaking, death of a martian, and the space-like cover of stadium arcadium. should we expect a song with saturn through pluto in their titles? just curious... if anyone can pour some light on the subject, please let me know.

FUCK

Why hasn't anyone included this information yet? http://ultimate-guitar.com/news/general_music_news/red_hot_chili_peppers_accused_in_plagiarism.html --84.249.252.211 20:04, 5 June 2006 (UTC)

How about you do it? Xinit 20:10, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
How about you do it? I simply asked because I had no time, had no experience with how to handle this kind of information on Wikipedia. Stop being smartass if I asked why anyone hasn't ALREADY included this information even after such a long time. --84.249.252.211 01:30, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
Apparently nobody else has had the time or the desire to add these allegations, either. I'm afraid I don't tend to take comments under a header such as "FUCK" to be at all serious, let alone those made by people who aren't logged in. From what I saw in a quick search, it's one DJ that said this, and I haven't found any mention of lawsuits, or any other FACTUAL information that I'd add to a WP article... just a DJ's statements. If you have better sources than the one you included above, I'd love to see them. Xinit 00:28, 7 June 2006 (UTC)

Xinit thinks he owns this wikipage. The reality is - he has too much time on his hands. ReadyMade

Whose sockpuppet are you, anyhow? I'm attempting to keep this article on a course towards Wikipedia's idea of a good article. I don't own this article any more than you do, but I am trying to steer it toward the generally accepted guidelines for a good article about a musical group. It's not a good article, but it's getting better. If you and your puppeteers would only work with us to improve the article, that would be appreciated. Xinit 01:09, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
Agreed. If you'd like to argue the point, then you should probably start using some decent logic, instead of heading a section with "FUCK" and hoping people will bow down before the profanity. - Corbin Be excellent 03:19, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
