I'm going to delete some of the introductory texts here, which features some confusions.

It may eventually make sense to split this article into at least two further articles. Reasons as causes (explanatory reasons) are very different reasons to do or believe stuff (normative reasons).

Then there are differences among normative reasons. There are reasons to act (practical reasons) and reasons to believe (epistemic reasons), as well as reasons to have certain emotions. Whoistheroach (talk) 04:27, 25 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
