Controversy seems to follow this ship like a wake (bad joke). I propose a controversy section, with factual and informative text instead of letting bias into the main article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.97.239.147 (talk) 22:29, 30 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The "Design" section of this article should be rewritten. I saw this "ship" in Portland harbor in July of 2010 before I knew anything about it, and could tell upon first sight that it was an accident waiting to happen, even predicting such on Facebook. It was hogging worse than those two old sunken hulls that used to be up in Wiscasset. After it did sink 5 months later, I found their build log online, and was stunned at the "techniques" used to build it. It was NOT built with any combination of recognizable shipbuilding techniques, nor any modern lamination or technology. The keel was glued together with roofing tar, for goodness sakes. Real sailors and boatbuilders who saw it under construction warned McKay repeatedly that it would be lucky to even float, much less make a voyage, even offering help, which in his "raw faith", he refused. The article should reflect this, instead of sounding like McKay wrote it.Cowcharge (talk) 21:52, 30 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Just a note: I personally know a few ppl who helped build RawFaith, in addition to McKay and his sons. A lot of ppl volunterred to help, including (but not limited to) members of the mission group AGAPE. -rob — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.235.178.26 (talk) 02:40, 30 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

NOT a galleon, race-built or otherwise[edit]

Describing this vessel as a race-built galleon is objectively false, and misleading to uninformed readers. It is true that McKay had that sort of vessel in mind and described it as such, but Raw Faith is no more a galleon than a homemade, retro-fitted wheelbarrow is a Spartan war chariot. There is a big difference between the concept and aspiration of a design, and what it actually turns out as. Raw Faith lacks any superficial resemblance (much less actual design features) to a galleon. It is a unique wooden vessel with a schooner rig.76.179.132.32 (talk) 16:24, 12 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
