What is Raes Junction now? It is the Raes Junction Hotel (which we currently have closed to do major renovation work on,) and the four surrounding farms. 5 families live in the picturesque little valley but the place is full of people travelling through to the mountains, orchards, scenic spots etc of Central Otago, the southern link to the rich history of West Otago with the Hokonui Moonshine Museum, the galleries, and the Country and Western Capital of New Zealand - Gore and to the East the sea and the Beautiful City of Dunedin with its wonderful architecture and on the way to there, and only 20 minutes away the historic wee town of Lawrence with its history of gold and the Chinese people who settled there during those times and played such an important part in its early years as merchants there. We are the current owners of Raes Junction Hotel and will have the place open and thriving again when our work is done to bring this lovely old building, (so popular with southerners) back to how she was in her heyday. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.54.197.41 (talkcontribs)

That's just the sort of info that would be good in the article (or some of it is, anyway) - so I'll add some of it in. BTW, I took a photo of your hotel a couple of days ago, so I've added that in too! :) Grutness...wha? 09:17, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

PROD due to WP:N[edit]

I've been unable to find any independent references to this settlement. It appears to consist of basically only the hotel building (currently closed) and some nearby farms. Given the small size of the settlement and the complete lack of other reliable references I am not convinced this exceeds the threshold for notability of places. I've added a PROD for it as a result. -- David Palmer aka cloventt (talk) 21:56, 4 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
