Article concerns[edit]

I can't see what this article adds to Wikipedia. The issues have been covered in other articles already. We don't even have an article for racial violence as it is covered under racism. This page should be deleted. - Shiftchange (talk) 14:40, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've tagged this article with original research because it appears to be WP:SYNTH rather than an encyclopeadic article and has the appearance of WP:CFORK. I'd suggest inclusion of material not covered in the RiA article be considered for inclusion there and this article be deleted. Gnangarra 15:38, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This is an article on Racial Violence in Australia, not racism in Australia. It is a different topic, see for example Mass racial violence in the United States. Deathlibrarian (talk) 22:45, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Its is the same thing the two articles cover the same events, the notable incidents of racism included these acts of violence . Gnangarra 12:42, 23 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

On the one hand racial violence is a part of racism, but equally, it is a complex subject of its own that involves other things like mob mentality, moral panick, the media and socioecomonics. Anyways, the incidents of racial violence are substantial enough that they should have their own page, in my thinking. And this is only some of them. Deathlibrarian (talk) 13:24, 23 July 2009 (UTC)IMHO this is a "related article" on a subtopic of Racism, not a WP:CFORK. Deathlibrarian (talk) 22:20, 26 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Delete I cannot see why it should exist. Racism in Australia would be a more appropriate place, and it appears to have most of the content anyway. The concepts that deathlibrarian want to include like "moral panick" have their own articles, and I cannot see how the theories that he wishes to raise in this article would not be applicable in any other country. Kransky (talk) 14:27, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

They are applicable in other countries - thus the Mass Racial Violence in United states. This article is just Australian specific.Deathlibrarian (talk) 11:52, 25 November 2009 (UTC) Regarding the suggestion to delete this article, how naive can you get? This article is a brief overview of a serious issue affecting the whole of Australia. It touches on culture, immigration, assimilation, politics, media, education, foreign relations,Australias image, hypocrisy and more. I'd like to see it enlarged, but the page allows readers to go to many wikipedia pages discussing these issues. There are many who want to say racism doesn't exist in Australia. This section disproves that totally. The facts are plain to see. As a proud Australian,I believe we need to face facts and not shy away from the problem.Ern Malleyscrub (talk) 04:25, 27 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Merge and Delete. This article is very poorly written (especially the lead section), and apart from a few unreferenced or barely notable incidents it is all covered in the Racism in Australia page. --Amaher (talk) 04:52, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Merge and Delete Ern, your statements make me wonder if you are approaching the issue objectively. Suffice to say, the topic does deserve to be covered fully and comprehensively. And therefore having one good quality article, instead of two poor quality ones, is what should be printed. Kransky (talk) 05:55, 8 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Causes[edit]

This is something that does not get adressed. Before I add something I'd likee some of you to comment (Marinesuper (talk) 11:44, 13 February 2010 (UTC))[reply]
