Remove Stub Class[edit]

I've removed the stub classification for this article because (1) all six members of the genus have their own detailed articles, and (2) the article pretty much sums up genus P. adequately with a list of members, taxobox, and description of members of the genus, surely enough for the casual reader. Classification[edit]

Anyone aware of any literature on perhaps reclassifying this genus's species in relation to Felis? Pronunciation?[edit]

Are there any clues as to how to say this? If any of the species have such instruction, it would be useful to place it in this genus description. Kortoso (talk) 07:53, 16 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It's named after the greek príōn (saw) + aílouros (cat), presumably referring to saw-like teeth, just as the prion (bird) was named after its saw-like bill. So the pronunciation will be /ˈpɹʌɪən/ and /aí̯.loː.ros/. References can be found for either part but without a reference for the whole name I don't think we can include it (original research or synthesis).
