Earthwave[edit]

I deleted this: On September 2, 2007, 300 surfers arrived at Polzeath beach to set a new world record for the highest number of surfers riding the same wave, as part of the Global Surf Challenge and part of a project called Earthwave to raise awareness about global warming. Surfers aim to break world record, BBC News, 2 September 2007. Another in 2008: A1 Surf. These are only press releases in advance. Are there any reports of how the events went? - Fayenatic (talk) 20:11, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Tristan Stephenson's directorship of cafe[edit]

User:176.144.102.139 says “I honestly cannot see why directorship of a cafe is notable for inclusion, perhaps you think that drones of "mixologist" related tour buses will soon start rolling up to Polzeath beach.”

Stephenson is the notable owner and director of a cafe on the beach which is part of the economy of the resort. I don't understand what the problem is? It's certainly not remotely promotional? Theroadislong (talk) 14:35, 29 August 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, but I have to agree with the other IP user. While Stephenson is arguably notable enough to have his own article, the source cited for his inclusion on this page is of dubious reliability and — more importantly — does not mention Polzeath. Find a reliable source that says he operates a cafe there, and then maybe it could go into the article. Having his own Notable people section is right out, though, IMO. —2601:19A:4000:4A02:880D:D326:7C45:718F (talk) 04:23, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I mentioned Stephenson in the "economy' section of the article, someone else moved it to a "Notable People" section, there is no doubt he runs the cafe there http://www.cornishguardian.co.uk/David-Cameron-arrives-Cornwall-traditional-summer/story-22782789-detail/story.html Theroadislong (talk) 08:01, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The source mentioned by User:Theroadislong only says Stephenson owns it, not that he runs it. Is it not undue weight/trivia to list people with investments in holiday homes, shops, fast food and surf-board hire etc? SovalValtos (talk) 09:44, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I'm happy to leave it for others to decide, I don't have any strong feelings one way or the other. Theroadislong (talk) 10:51, 2 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
