Background[edit]

Untitled[edit]

The article states: "Yeow attended SMK Convent Bukit Nanas.[1] She emigrated to Australia at age 9 with her parents and brother." There is a factual conflict here. SMK Convent Bukit Nanas is a secondary school, where the minimum age to attend is 13 (12 if you are gifted), but the next sentence claims she moved to Australia at age 9. So either she did not attend this school, or she migrated at a different age. I tried to check the cited article, but it was locked behind a pay wall. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.82.121.159 (talk) 01:40, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The school article states there are also two primary campuses. WWGB (talk) 05:59, 23 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm. You are right. Then would it be more accurate to say she attended SRK and not SMK Convent Bukit Nanas? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 60.54.175.202 (talk) 03:56, 25 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Naming[edit]

The naming in this article is incorrect. Granted, the article name itself may be correct as "Poh Ling Yeow" is what she is known by in Australia but the part where it states she was born "Poh Ling Yeow" is incorrect. She was born in Malaysia, where the Chinese naming convention is Surname Firstname and so her birth name (as on her birth certificate) would be Yeow Poh Ling. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.171.226.225 (talk) 11:42, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First of all she's known as Poh Ling Yeow. The birth name section of First/Given/Family names as the name in the article can be different due to marriage or they choose to get a new name. Bidgee (talk) 12:05, 22 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Religion[edit]

I think there might be some misunderstanding with her being a mormon. See this transcript from ABC's Talking Heads

A real turning point in my travels was when I went to Canada, and I suddenly realised there was this whole, big world out there. The first person who took me under their wing was a transvestite named Arnie. (LAUGHS) Little things like this suddenly just blew my little Mormon world to pieces. I suddenly realised I can't live with this set of values, this doctrine, any more. When I came back to Australia, I managed to attract this friend at church, Matthew, and we fell in love, we got married, and together, we helped each other leave the church.

I'm going to go ahead and change it to be more clear about her being both previously Mormon and Buddhist.

There is an RfC on the question of using "Religion: None" vs. "Religion: None (atheist)" in the infobox on this and other similar pages.

The RfC is at Template talk:Infobox person#RfC: Religion infobox entries for individuals that have no religion.

Please help us determine consensus on this issue. --Guy Macon (talk) 05:39, 24 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Actress category[edit]

There has been an edit war raging over the inclusion of the category "Australian actresses". The article notes that Poh has appeared in four films, so I think that is sufficient for her inclusion in this category. WWGB (talk) 06:15, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. The category has been removed as part of mass rollbacks per WP:DENY - I'll add it back. GiantSnowman 07:34, 3 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Need to add poh’s Religion[edit]

Poh & her mother converted to the mormon faith when she was 16, the moved to Utah. 49.178.151.172 (talk) 08:01, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

So what? It does not define who she is; she now shuns religion. WWGB (talk) 09:02, 4 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
