So he started management of his club aged 2. Or something? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 220.237.255.61 (talk) 05:07, 5 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

History[edit]

Prior to the Ansonia Hotel, Plato's Retreat operated out of a downtown location in the Gramercy Park area. Dick Kimball (talk) 21:07, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why New York and not Los Angeles?[edit]

I find it ironic that the most infamous heterosexual sex club was based in New York and not Los Angeles. Home to a $4 Billion dollar adult film industry, Los Angeles has never had anything even similar to Plato's retreat (that I am aware of) in the cities storied history. The closest would be the Playboy Mansion, but even that was not specifically a "sex club". Just another strange anomaly between these two great cosmopolitan giants.

Actually there was one in LA, in Hollywood. I was there just once, but they had the same facilities and policies described in the article. Probably late 70's or early 80's. -- J.S. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1700:F540:5560:F884:FEE:B44F:C8EA (talk) 08:38, 16 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Personal Anecdote[edit]

I never quite made it to Plato's Retreat. I recall asking my girlfriend at the time whether we could go together. Her answer was, "Yes, but if you lay a finger on me or anyone else, you'll take back a bloody stump."

I hope you dumped her.

This article needs to be edited.[edit]

Especially the first paragraph, which reads like a couple of high school boys were bored. 72.193.85.115 (talk) 20:47, 17 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
