Elevation[edit]

I propose that the elevation should be amended to 5,700 m. I have three reasons:

  • (1) There is no evidence that the 5,775 m elevation is supported by precision surveying,
  • (2) the 5,775m elevation is not supported by official Colombian topographic mapping, which shows two 5,650 m contour rings at the locations Colon and Bolivar, but no 5,700 m rings or spot elevations;
  • (3) Three arc second SRTM data shows a 5,686 m cell within the location of the Colombian map's 5,650 m ring contour, and analysis, which also includes a good (but unfortunately copyrighted) photograph of the mountain, shows that it is incompatible with a summit elevation of 5,775 m. The photograph shows that Colon has a fairly level summit area.

Please any comments about this below. Otherwise I will amend the main article.
