Birthplace[edit]

May I see the source that Phil Rosen was born in Marienburg? All cites I found writes simply "was born in Russia" or links back to WP. But Marienburg was not Russian in 1888, but German Empire. Thanks, Russian user Анатолич1 83.149.8.227 (talk) 16:06, 18 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I was asked "he is from Olinka, Poland. Is this a place? Misspelling?"

Probably. There's no placename like this in Poland. Olinka is a rare feminine given name. Olinka replaced Malbork in this edit by User:Windsor3674 who just made two edits to Wikipedia. He wrote in "Impossible since he was was born in Russian Poland in 1888 and emigrated at age 3 to the Unitred States in 1890 per US 1900 Census". Not sure who claimed Malbork was in Russian Empire, but a simple fix would've been to change it back to Prussia. How come Windsor3674 came up with Olinka is hard to say, WP:HOAX or good-faithed error? Sigh. Of course nobody is citing any reliable sources, c'mon, people, maybe he was born on Mars? It's not like this claim is worse referenced that the prior ones. So, sources review.
One 2017 book cited Olinka ([1]). Selfpublished junk from Youcanprint. Probably copied this from us.
IMDb cited Malbork [2] but IMDb is not reliable, it's a closed wiki, and they could've taken this info from us. Or not, ping User:Lugnuts who created the wiki entry using IMDb as a source 10 years ago.
Some book sources however do concur he was born in Marienburg, and I mean likely-reliable books from pre-Wiki era. [3] and [4].
Frankly, I cannot find any better sources, including Polish, but I think the reliable sources say Malbork, so that's that. Seriosly, that "Olinka" sounds like a hoax. Sigh. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 10:02, 22 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Shochtiz and Paks[edit]

I was also asked "Also, any idea what Shochtiz and Paks is?" but I don't think the article mentions those names --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 10:02, 22 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]
