Castle[edit]

Given that there is a page for Pevensey Castle*, I can't help feeling that much of the material here is specfically about the castle and ought to be moved to that page. --Pfold 14:27, 14 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite[edit]

I completely agreed with the above comment (*in fact there was also one for Anderida) so I have chopped a lot of it down. In accordance with [1] the Wikipedia notes on writing about settlements shows that the article was incorrect to include stuff from other articles to the degree it was. It also suggested a layout, and I have used the recommended headings. It allows an editor to be sure that nothing gets missed! I am sure there are now things to be said in addition to what is there: for example, the education provision; more about sport; and some of the other places in the village (eg the Mint) that I just have no time now to add. Merging Pevensey levels[edit]

In an attempt to reduce the number of stubs and expand the Parish article, I am suggesting we merge the Pevensey Levels article plus the associated Rickney and Glynleigh Level articles into this one. MortimerCat (talk) 08:19, 4 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Richard Budgen Map[edit]

I have noticed that Richard Budgen's map dated around 1724 applies the name Pevensey to a large area to the north-west and south-west of Crowborough. Is there any other information to support this usage? treesmill (talk) 08:07, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Most likely for the Rape of Pevensey. --Pfold (talk) 23:50, 8 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate claim ?[edit]

"The Pevensies in the Narnia stories were named after the town. Pevensey Bay was the landing place of Gibreel Farishta and Saladin Chamcha in Salman Rushdie's The Satanic Verses.[19] Pevensie is the family name of Lucy Pevensie, Edmund Pevensie, Susan Pevensie and Peter Pevensie in C.S.Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia."

I am failing to see how the first and third of these three dot points, are not actually the same assertion.Lathamibird (talk) 06:33, 28 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]
