Controversy[edit]
It seems that the "Controversy" section is out of proportion to the rest of the article. I would propose to condense it. It's more akin to a news article than an encyclopedia entry. User:HopsonRoad 21:53, 12 January 2014 (UTC)
Religion[edit]
I don't get why contributors continue to try to list Shumlin's religion as "agnostic" or "atheist." I've previously provided a reference including a quote from his press spokesperson which makes clear that his religion is not known -- he hasn't said anything about it explicitly.
If "unknown" isn't going to be included in his infobox, then I think the religion line ought to be left blank. The fact that we don't know Peter Shumlin's religious preference doesn't mean he doesn't have one. And us not knowing if he has a religious preference doesn't mean that he's an atheist or an agnostic, either.
- Rick Perry’s “Response”. From Nel's News Day, August 5, 2011. Quote: "Vermont Gov. Peter Shumlin is of unknown, if any, religion."
- Is Perry trying to bring other states to their knees, too?. From the Midland Reporter-Telegram, June 9, 2011. By Ken Herman, Cox News Service. Quote: "The People who are Not Included in Gov. Perry’s Houston Prayer Fest", June 10, 2011. "Peter Shumlin is of unknown, if any, religion. "He has never declared a religion publicly," Sue Allen, his communications director, told me Monday."

- I concur. Furthermore, if he were known to be an atheist or agnostic, neither is a religion and should not be entered as such. —User:HopsonRoad 17:11, 16 January 2016 (UTC)
