USP - how this school differs or intends to differ from others[edit]

The ethos and direction of attention of this school relative to others deserves attention. As a bystander, it looks as if two of the features are a deliberately wider selection of students, and a more complete attention to having all teachers obtain a qualification in teaching. Of the two sorts of medical school - science then clinical or clinical from the first, while teaching science alongside - it is of course the latter, and this is the more modern fashion. The anatomy teaching is one of the areas of interest in medical study at present I think, and I think dissection is not part of it. Midgley 11:21, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yeah, the following reference mentions it as the first medical school in modern times not to use dissection of cadavers in its anatomy instruction, instead using purely computer-based "virtual dissection", alongside living anatomy and also mentions that this has caused a bit of a stir, with some other medical schools being skeptical of the change: Philip Cheung (2007). Pictures[edit]

Needs some. I'll drag a camera over to the big square library building when I have a moment. What else needs a phot? Plymouth I suppose... Midgley 11:22, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Medical School Split[edit]

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
Not split, without prejudice to a new active discussion. The parties interested in splitting the article no longer appear to be active in the discussion, and the split proposal template has been moldering on the page for nearly five years without follow-up. TJRC (talk) 00:41, 22 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The subsidiary medical schools have now had their first intake. I propose that the articles for University of Exeter Medical School and University of Plymouth Medical School are created and this page is left as a page to describe the former medical school--Pianoplonkers (talkcontribs) 19:58, 28 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed, the second intakes will soon be starting and so this seems appropriate. (Aneknamin (talk) 19:14, 4 September 2014 (UTC))[reply]

The name of the article to create appears to be Plymouth University Peninsula Schools of Medicine and Dentistry Jpe2015 (talk) 00:33, 12 October 2014 (UTC)[1][reply]

Is anyone going to perform this split? It's been years since it was proposed without objection. If not, I will remove the split proposal. Pinging Pianoplonkers, Aneknamin, Jpe2015. TJRC (talk) 20:40, 9 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
