"Racist" antics by college fans were not really racist?[edit]

I read the citations regarding what opposing fans did to Ewing in his college years. The "can't read" ones were in response to him allegedly not qualifying academically (was this confirmed one way or the other?). As for what happened in Syracuse, they are called the Orangemen so it's not surprising a Syracuse fan would throw an orange. Now if that had been a banana thrown OTOH...

Patrick Ewing is American[edit]

He was born in Kingston, Jamaica, and lived there until he was 11 or something, but then he moved the U.S. and after living there for so long he is now an American citizen (I don't know the specific chain of events). Knicks Won't Win with Ewing[edit]

Though I don't have the news reports to back it up, during the Jordan eras the only thing I heard fron NY sports radio, and newspapers, was how the Knicks would never win a Championship while they had Ewing. He just wasn't good enough. Funny thing, as soon as he retires the Knicks stop making the playoffs. When he was there the Knicks were a perennial contender, as soon as he leaves they're a joke. Infobox statistics[edit]

What should be emphasized in Patrick Ewing's infobox career stats? User:Sabbatino insists on points, rebounds, assist being the standard and reverted User:Sorcererzthunder replacing blocks instead of assists, when there is no consensus for this arbitrary standard. If that was the case, Template:Infobox basketball biography would have hardwired them specifically. Ewing is more prolific as a shotblocker than a passer and this should be emphasized like in other articles of his peers like Dikembe Mutumbo, Hakeem Olajuwon, and David Robinson. Other examples of career statistic categories not being rigid in terms of pt, rb, ast are John Stockton and Alvin Robertson. Morbidthoughts (talk) 17:07, 21 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Morbidthoughts: It is a common knowledge in basketball that the main statistics are points, rebounds and assists. The statistics are listed in that order in about every basketball-related website. Many of the listings in Wikipedia have been done many years ago and editors listed whatever they wanted. They may be the traditional triple double categories, but they do not establish the standard for listed categories in the infoboxes. Statistics like Blocks and Steals should be listed if the player was very prolific in that category. For example, Manute Bol averaged 3.3 bpg and he averaged 0.3 assists so definitely blocks should be listed as he was obviously more prolific with blocks. Also, if the NBA and Basketball-Reference keep track of the steals and blocks, they might as well should be allowed to be listed if a player was very good at doing either of those two.
