Giant?[edit]

What does this means? It is as giant as a dinosaur? Mazarin07 (talk) 14:30, 23 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Giant granadillaPassiflora quadrangularis – This plant has several common names, but only one unique identifier - the Latin binomial name. This name pinpoints the exact species, and is recognised internationally by all researchers. It places the plant in a hierarchy of plants which share genetic information. The vast majority of plant species are listed on wikipedia under their Latin name. Darorcilmir (talk) 06:45, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

  • Move - I did a quick ngram and other than 'badea', which has a few other uses (as does grenadine, which I omitted) there is no clear 'winner.' The Linnean name Passiflora quadrangularis should be used and all other names should be redirects or disambigs/hatnoted. --Nessie (talk) 14:03, 24 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - Passiflora quadrangularis is the obvious choice per the plant naming convention, given the lack of an clearly dominant common name in English. Barbadine is the obvious second choice, when that it's a common name which is the name in English-speaking countries in or close to its native range where it's culturally significant). • Support for Passiflora quadrangularis -let's have at least the plant names in nice Latin, please. Leo Breman (talk) 21:10, 29 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
