Mr. Peabody[edit]

It is asserted in the Paradise, KY article that the town was torn down by the Tennessee Valley Authority and not Peabody Coal. Can anyone verify this? Pustelnik (talk) 23:56, 6 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

John Prine takes all sorts of poetic liberties. Today Paradise Plant No.3 is a power generating station that stands on the former location of Paradise Ky. Also, the "abandoned old prison down by Airdrie Hill" is actually an abandoned iron works: http://www.waymarking.com/waymarks/WM6X_Old_Airdrie_Ironworks. The song is partly a lament of the environmental impact of mining but I think it is also about nostalgia for things that we knew in childhood but are now gone forever. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.193.108.99 (talk) 04:33, 29 December 2011 (UTC) "nostalgia for things that we knew in childhood but are now gone forever" Like My_City_Was_Gone by The Pretenders — Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.201.143.69 (talk) 19:45, 28 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
