anyone know the half life of PMSF in DMSO? and at what temp it should be stored? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.255.232.66 (talk) 15:04, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It's stable for about 9 months at 4C. You can find more info about it on the Sigma-Aldrich site. But be very careful: I'm sure you know DMSO will take it right through your skin. Isopropanol could be a better choice. 199.76.144.85 (talk) 15:47, 14 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Toxic[edit]

I've always been taught that PMSF is very toxic because it is an acetylcholinesterase inhibitor, a la VX Nerve Gas. But at a LD50 of 500mg/kg, it's lethality is less than that of caffeine or asprin, what gives? Adenosinetalk 00:13, 11 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It depends on how it gets into your body. if you swallow it it will probably just inhibit trypsin and chymotrypsin. Going straight to your brain could be a little different Pelirojopajaro (talk) 18:19, 1 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
