Synthesizer?

The infobox lists synthesizer as one of his instuments. He is certainly not known for his synthesizer. Also, harmonica is listed, I can only think of one song that he plays harmonica, "The Wizard" and he recorded it 40 years ago and rarely ever played it in concert. Unless anyone makes a reasonable objection I will remove them. -J04n (talk) 00:26, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Ozzy on Slash's solo album

Ozzy will sing on Slash's solo album. Source: http://www.metalunderground.com/news/details.cfm?newsid=40429

Ozzy will perform with Slash & Friends at Quart Festival in Norway on June 30th. It might be Ozzy's only show this year. Source (Norwegian newspaper): http://www.vg.no/rampelys/festivalsommeren/artikkel.php?artid=541877

I think this should be mentioned in Ozzy's article. 83.49.96.38 (talk) 19:13, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for bringing it up on the talk page before editing the main page. There is already mention on the main page (under later solo career) of Ozzy colaborating with Slash, but it needs a reference and it looks like you found one. If you look on your talk page I added some great tips to help you get started on editing in Wikipedia. If you have any questions feel free to comment on my talk page and I'll try to help you out. The Article Needs Help

The article could use better grammar, more citations and far less bias. In general, it could be better written. Much better written. Gingermint (talk) 21:38, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

I am the author of the Uncyclopedia version of Ozzy_Osbourne. I agree after reading the article with a ton of the comments and feedback on this page. I have spent several hours working the grammar, and removed the bias as best I can on quick glance. The only issue I left unresolved until I can fix this is that I think the article needs many more photographs of Ozzy, but there are not very many in the Commons area for him. I am gong to speak with Mark Weiss and ask if he will allow me to use some of his copywriten images for Ozzy's page, provided I give him the proper credit and indicate the copyright. I have a ton of articles and books on Ozzy, and can add content that's not quite so dry. F darkbladeus 15:14, 10 July 2010

Psychology

I was under the impression Ozzy was self-medicating, partly because of psychological issues. Schizophrenia perhaps? At any rate, if this is so it should be mentioned. Gingermint (talk) 21:38, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

bat

why no mention of the legend that he bit the head off of a bat? 86.16.153.191 (talk) 23:00, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

It's in this section. J04n(talk page) 23:09, 31 May 2009 (UTC)

better pic

ozzy looks different than that now. His hair in the current photo makes him look like somebody else. He should also have those glasses. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.176.126.29 (talk) 02:02, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Voice Type

I'm not sure if his voice type should be listed. He goes well into the tenor range until his post-Ozzmosis career, hitting a High D on "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath", which is above the "standard" High C most tenors must hit to be qualified as such. However, he by no means has a classical-sounding voice, so operatic classifications may be null and void. Someone recently changed his range to "baritone", which I think would be a misnomer, since his voice didn't start to drop until his last two albums. Even Pavarotti stopped singing the big high notes when he was Ozzy's age, but he never lost the qualification of tenor. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JohannHenrik (talkcontribs) 18:21, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

I completely disagree with populating the "voice type" field for any non-classical vocalists. To my knowledge there are no verifiable references to support any voice type for any rock vocalists. The discussion to revert additions to this field for rockers is currently underway at the talk page for the infobox template. J04n(talk page) 18:30, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
Unless specifically mentioned in text and supported by cites (such as exampled in the article about Maria Carey), agree with J04n, in the vast majority of cases it makes no sense to have a voice type for such artists.--Alf melmac 21:14, 20 May 2009 (UTC)
I completely agree. I was just worried this would become a "voice type" minefield like it has for a lot of other rock vocalists.JohannHenrik (talk) 21:24, 20 May 2009 (UTC)

The "voice type" field in the musical artist infobox template is intended for classical vocalists. This position is supported by Voice type and Voice classification in non-classical music. In the rare instance when a reliable source exists to support a voice type for a non-classical vocalist (i.e. Maria Carey) the source must be provided for inclusion in the infobox. I will revert the entry in this field for this page, if you disagree please comment at the talk page for the musical artist infobox. J04n(talk page) 16:24, 23 May 2009 (UTC)

The Video Ozzy does not want you to watch!

Body: Current mood: disgusted Category: Music

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Xu5Z7XpJ54

notwithstanding the inappropriate nature, for this place, of this appeal or rant about Lee Kerslake, the above link no longer works because "The YouTube account associated with the video has been terminated". Draw your own conclusions.68.18.196.168 (talk) 06:18, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

Lee Kerslake, former drummer of Uriah Heep and contributor to Ozzy, amongst others, is in financial hardship. He has auctioned off his memorabilia to pay off bills and to keep his estate from foreclosure.

His due royalties from Ozzy had never been accredited to him. He helped to put Ozzy back on the charts.

What ever happen to the Brotherhood of Fellow Musicians?

I hope everyone who watches and hears this video, will boycott everything Ozzy, till he gives just acknowledgement and royalties to Lee Kerslake. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.173.170.36 (talk) 23:16, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

What is this mess doing here in a semi-scholarly discussion. Who wrote this mess about Lee Kerslake? Horrid!Gingermint (talk) 21:34, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

probably Lee Kerslake —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.24.207.77 (talk) 19:38, 13 August 2010 (UTC)

just to wrap this up..... the court case related to this matter was appealed to, and rejected by, a Federal Appeals Court in 2003. [1] So this rant is at best ill advised and at least incorrect.68.18.196.168 (talk) 06:24, 15 February 2011 (UTC)

'Solo tours' section

Unless someone has a reasonable objection I'm going to remove the solo tours section. It is completely unsourced and in my opinion fancruft. J04n(talk page) 15:03, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Regarding Gus G, Tommy Clueftos and Blizzcon

The press release clearly says: "Due to Zakk Wylde's current touring committments with Black Label Society And Mike Bordin's ongoing reunion tour with Faith No More, Ozzy will be playing with guitarist, Gus G, and drummer, Tommy Clueftos for this special performance", which implies that it's a one-off thing. So please stop adding them to the current line up. Erzsébet Báthory(talk|contr.) 16:30, 22 August 2009 (UTC)

Something seriously weird must've gone on with my edit. All I endeavoured to do was put the phrase 'will play at blizzcon' in to past tense once he walked off stage. Bleeter (talk) 03:40, 25 August 2009 (UTC)
Nevermind, misread someone's edit summary *sigh* long weekend Bleeter (talk) 03:42, 25 August 2009 (UTC)

Gus G. is the new guitar player for Ozzy he needs to be added, I always fuck up the pages so I won't edit it but it needs to be added.

Please watch this youtube video. Gus G. posted it himself on Myspace. From what I can see, he is replacing Zakk Wylde. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8OONCtU3N_0

Questionable source?

See the passage that I removed here. It was tagged with {{Verify credibility}} questioning WP:NPOV of the source from this site. I believe if the validity of the source is in question the passage must be removed per WP:BLP, which I did. However, the source says that it received the information from a direct quote by Ozzy published in Guitar Legends, No. 37, p. 34. If in fact it is from Guitar Legends I would say that it should be returned (and sourced to the original article), but I don't have the magazine. Does anyone have a copy for verification? Comments? J04n(talk page) 02:18, 17 September 2009 (UTC)

Old photo

I have a picture and article from a newspaper of Ozzy with short hair during what I think is the Diary of a Madman tour from..82, would this be of use in the article, should I bother scanning it? Revrant (talk) 01:23, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

I think that would be a copyrighted image, but thanks anyway. Erzsébet Báthory(talk|contr.) 01:38, 12 October 2009 (UTC)

Unacceptably, Obviously biased site as source

I have a tiny interest in Osbourne because in the sixties I once sat alongside him on a 717 Green Line bus from Stevenage -where he really grew up- on a journey into central London ( Marble Arch) He was a tall impressive figure sitting completely motionless for nearly an hour and I always wondered who he could be.Only forty years later casually watching a late night TV programme did this same baby faced long haired figure appear. On the bus he wore a jean suit and his long hair was its original blonde. However I would ask one simple question. His image -as we are constantly told -is one of a life of very heavy drinking and drug use --yet at 62 he still looks as slim trim and healthy as a young man!!!-Something is not quite right there!-still,true or not, its an image that has made him 110 million pounds (not mentioned in the article)!!

First of all. Let me tell you that Ozzy is not a bad man. People think he worships the devvil BUT that is not true. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.208.134.176 (talk) 02:28, 8 May 2010 (UTC)

The "Ozzy Rest of the Story" reference is hilariously biased, it is obviously a very fanatically Christian site that constantly calls Ozzy a "sadist" and "pervert rocker" because he apparently offends them.

It is pointless to have such a biased reference in the article, and I will remove it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.232.219.14 (talk) 02:28, 18 June 2009 (UTC)

Well, many people, infact a majority during the appearance of such rock bands, were offended, the same way many were offended by rappers, and you suggest we shouldn't mention that part of the story? Is that bias, or part of the reality? --94.193.135.142 (talk) 13:30, 14 October 2009 (UTC)

We shouldn't mention it if it didn't happen. Yeah, I think that's a good suggestion. Now, if it did happen, then we should quote from a source that wasn't written in crayon. Gingermint (talk) 21:31, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Animal Abuse Section

Is there a source for the assertion that Osbourne abuses animals? I'm aware of the allegations in the section, but I missed refrences to these as abuse, are there some in the sources? Unless the sources seem relatively aligned as to this point, it doesn't seem clear that we can necceasrily call it abuse. It would seem to be that it would be better to note the sources that call it abuse and leave it at that. It doesn't seem that by the prevailing morals in many cultures that biting a bat's head off or a dove's head off is necessarily animal abuse, and I don't think wikipedia should be taking a position as to this matter.--Δζ (talk) 04:07, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

  • You make a good point; what do you think the heading should be changed to? J04n(talk page) 10:42, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
I would think something like Animal Cruelty Controversies or similar would be fine. Maybe "Substance Abuse and Animal Cruelty Accusations" Or "... Controversies" would be a bit better. I'm not opposed to calling it abuse if the sources say this, I just think the judgment should be attributed to the sources rather than wikipedia itself. I'm not trying to be too pedantic here, but it does seem that his acts, while shocking, aren't really any different than accepted slaughtering practices in many cultures and countries, including those in Europe and North America which are perhaps most relevant to these claims. Regards--Δζ (talk) 08:42, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
I agree with you, I'm going to split into two sections: 'Substance abuse' and 'Controversies with animals'. J04n(talk page) 12:11, 22 November 2009 (UTC)
Done; feel free to tweak the wording there is nothing about drugs so I took the word out. J04n(talk page) 00:51, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
Controversies with animals? Hey, Ozzy did say he's looking for a new title for his next album :D --Snograt talk here 13:49, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Later solo career and Black Sabbath reunion

that section doesn't deal with the black sabbath reunion at all. either rename it or add the part about the sabbath reunion, i'd suggest the latter.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 134.93.65.136 (talkcontribs) 00:03, January 7, 2010

Consensus needed for status of Under Cover

Consensus should be reached as to whether or not Under Cover is considered Ozzy's ninth studio album. There has been some recent editing back and forth over the issue at Under Cover, Black Rain (Ozzy Osbourne album), Template:Ozzy Osbourne, and possibly other pages. In looking for similar albums I came across Acid Eaters, which is listed with the Ramones' studio albums, and Garage Inc. which is not listed with Metallica's. Unless there is a ruling somewhere that I am not aware of I would support counting it in his list of studio albums. Comments? J04n(talk page) 16:35, 8 February 2010 (UTC)

I wouldn't put it, as it is just a complete album of covers. Muttdog (talk) 20:20, 21 February 2010 (UTC)

Hmm, can I cite Bowie's Pin Ups here? --Snograt talk here 13:58, 5 March 2010 (UTC)
There doesn't seem to be a lot of interest in forming a consensus over here and frankly the edit warring has subsided so I'm not all that concerned either. Is there a lot of back and forth editing for Pin Ups? If so you should probably post at Talk:David Bowie. I think it's better to treat these as case-by-case, good luck. J04n(talk page) 14:49, 5 March 2010 (UTC)

Language useage in the intro

In the intro it says He rose to prominence as lead vocalist of pioneering British heavy metal band Black Sabbath, and eventually achieved a multi-platinum solo career between the early 1980s and mid 1990s which revolutionized the heavy metal genre. Shouldn't it instead say He rose to prominence as lead vocalist of the pioneering British heavy metal band Black Sabbath, and eventually achieved a multi-platinum solo career between the early 1980s and mid 1990s which revolutionized the heavy metal genre ? Dintonight (talk) 12:09, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

Wrong info

"The film these fellows were waiting to see was the Mario Bava-directed Black Sabbath. After reading an occult book he borrowed from Osbourne, Butler had a dream of a dark figure at the end of his bed. Afterwards, Butler told Osbourne about the dream and Osbourne wrote the lyrics to "Black Sabbath", one of their first songs in a darker vein."

Ozzy's autobiography disagrees with both these claims, and even points out Geezer wrote the lyrics to the song "Black Sabbath".

Muttdog (talk) 17:30, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

Do you have a page number reference from his autobiography? If so, the disagreement should be added to the article. Dintonight (talk) 19:00, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

Earlier Band

It has been stated in Ozzy's autobiography, I Am Ozzy, that he was also in a band with Geezer Butler before joining up with Tony and Bill.

Small update needed

"President Bush noted Osbourne's presence by joking..." the word former should be placed before president for obvious reasons, I would have done this small task myself but the protection thing is on.

As Bush was President at the time, I think it's OK as it is; otherwise we would have to go round all such articles adding "former", and I doubt that's a good idea, even if feasible. Rodhull andemu 15:37, 25 April 2010 (UTC)

If this page weren't semiprotected I would have been able to disambiguate Slash -> Slash (musician). Wikipedia, the encyclopedia that only a few can edit. Career spanning...

The intro states his career spans four decades, but as he has been active in the 1960s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s and this year doesn't that mean his career spans across six decades? Does the intro mean the duration of his career or the number of decades it spans (the latter usually being what people mean when they talk about spanning decades)...

There should be some mention of the hilarious and often self-depreciating commercials Ozbourne has been doing for companies like Samsung.
