2253 vs 2256[edit]

@Zacharie Grossen: I can not open that link. But why on a plate attached to the wall of the station, it is written: 2256 m?

Because the plate is over a hundred years old, it is not accurate. The correct elevation, given by the state-of-the-art swisstopo maps (link: [1]) is 2,253 metres asl. If your are not convinced, please check the RhB website ([2]). ZachG (Talk) 16:47, 6 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure how old the plate is but I found a journal from 1911 (just one year after the opening of the station) with the height indicated by the plate. So it's based on old measurements in any case, and those are typically off by a few metres, that's why swisstopo should be preferred over elevation signs, no matter how nice and shiny they look :-) ZachG (Talk) 15:46, 9 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
