Usage of unreliable sources[edit]

This article https://www.ethiopia-insight.com/2020/08/03/guji-oromo-need-freedom-from-liberators/ by Nagessa Dube on website EthiopianInsight, makes usage of links that are broken, and is referencing Facebook posts by individuals personal facebook account.

EthipianInsight in general seems to fall in line with the WP:PUS definition of a content farm, which is listed as one of the types of unreliable sources. I recommend not including information from this source LeenchaOromia (talk) 02:55, 17 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Ethiopia Insight is clearly not a content farm. My general impression is that it publishes analyses and opinion from Ethiopians from a variety of different backgrounds. The use of volatile URLs that are no longer valid two and a half years later and of a URL to a personal FB account is unwise, but it's not unique to Ethiopia Insight.

Whether the claims made in this particular Ethiopia Insight article are strong enough from this source, and whether they should be included with attribution to Nagessa Dube (the removed text did not attribute the source), is reasonably open to discussion. Fair points. My reasoning for saying it "seems like a content farm" was because of the WP:PUS definition of it as described in the following:

While they may resemble the format used by legitimate websites (especially in the case of the former), the content is by amateur writers paid by page views and other factors, and are effectively self-published, user-generated content that lacks editorial oversight.

So it didn't seem too far-fetched for me to say that based on this description. After further reading the content farm page, I can see why one would clearly think it is not.
