I'm unsure what is deemed "release date", but July 1974 was only first month of its production in Kaluga, and the movie was not completed by 1975. Officially first public demonstration in USSR took place on December 1, 1975 in the "Rossiya", but it was already after the movie got Berlin's Bear; the movie was not allowed for public show before that, and at this point it shortened from 94 to 89 minutes.

IDMB has a more appropriate http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072208/combined about this movie describing in particular Ergolina as 'femme fatal ... convincing though everything is quite virgin'. Further googling "genius Furikov" leads to full and exact desciption of Furikov and Lebedev in the special movie chapter 'Who is Who' - 'Furikov, in a hat. See? - I do. - Dark genius. - How so? - No reason. and "Lebedev, Sasha. Will do anything for an adventure. - Oh yeah? Could pass for an angel. - Yep, that's him. An angel of adventure". Furikov thereafter already in description of Lopukhin, nicknaming whom Bramble is confusing without understanding that "bramble" in-Russian sounds as "lopukh", is presumed overwhelmengly smarter than anyone else supposed to be around yet not only no evidence is presented that Furikov is that smart, it is in fact challenged if Furikov is smart as ordinary one should be in the scene of footbal where Furikov fails to understand what villagers will do them "in the rear"; it is found out later that they will push soccer "balls" and Zagremuhina exclaims "Nightmare" whereas both, who btw are joint in bringing punch, can be reasonable challenged in Russia that "villagers" might have fucked "in the rear" this "elitary troop", and a scene seemingly without context of Lunev pushing Furikov down into water in fact exemplifies "how".

This all were among factors of deliberation when the movie was prized in Berlin, but was totally censored with all presentations of Furikov's "anti-socially misdirected genius" by Soviet authorities and upon the end of the Cold War politcorrected out of written history of cinema available to public.
