Accumulated Water & Stored Water[edit]

I believe that this article confuses these two. Accumulated Water represents the water that has accumulated in the hold of the Celestial Boat Tiānchuán. It is the 67th constellation of Gan De's school (Gan Shi 67) and comprises Lambda Persei and 43 Persei. Stored Water represents a store of water for making wine. It is the 41st constellation of Shi Shen's school (Shi Shi 41) and comprises either Omicron Geminorum or 65 Aurigae (depending on which source you follow). The IAU's Working Group on Star Names has adopted Jishui as the name for Omicron Geminorum, but this star is also identified as the second additional star of North River. So 65 Aurigae is probably a better bet for Stored Water. Either way, the Wikipedia articles have interchanged the English names of these two constellations. See Sun Xiaochun & Jacob Kistemaker, The Chinese Sky during the Han (BRILL 1997), which identifies Jishui (Shi Shi 41) as Omicron Geminorum (page 151) but also places it in Auriga (page 218). The authors correctly identify Accumulated Water with Lambda Persei (page 178). Eroica (talk) 09:07, 23 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
