8s, 9s and 10s[edit]

I deleted the statement that "8s, 9s and 10s are removed". An ombre pack does not have any 8s, 9s, or 10s (or Jokers or Tarocks or Kamchatkas), so removing such irrelevant items is nothing to do with the game. Maproom (talk) 12:10, 15 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ombre[edit]

Ombre is more widely known as a decorating technique using graduations of shadow. It is done in monochrome and sometimes in color.

I'm not sure if I did it the right way, but added a link at the top to a Ombre(design) page. For the card playing enthusiasts please note the Ombre is a very common design term meaning a gradient in colors or shades, it is used extensively in fashion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.169.177.150 (talk) 03:16, 9 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Italian?[edit]

I thought I had read that the transition from the Spanish word hombre, to Ombre as the name of the game, had something to do with a confusion with the Italian word for "shadows". Does anyone have any sourceable information in either direction on that? --Trovatore (talk) 02:55, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Never heard that. Nothing found ! Krenakarore TK 11:34, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
OK, thanks for checking. --Trovatore (talk) 20:31, 16 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

'Chance' section of the summary[edit]

It says in the article the chance is 'difficult'. I find this ambiguous. Does it mean there is low chance? As in it is a difficult & skilled game, or does it mean it's difficult to be lucky? I presume the first but I don't know the game well. This is the first I've seen of 'difficult' being used to describe the chance of a game; most talk about a 'none'-'low'-'medium'-'high'-'completely' kind of scale.
