Apostrophes

There are a number of incorrectly-used apostrophes in this article. Please review any use of the word "song's". "Song's" should only be used in cases where the word is possessive in nature ("the song's lyrics are about love"), and not as a pluralization ("Jackson decided to use all three song's on the album"). The plural form of "song" is "songs", not "song's". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.186.240.194 (talk) 21:44, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

Old comments

Since the Off the Wall radio show seems quite minor, I'm moving that stuff into the Off the Wall (radio page. I'm going to work on adjusting the link (if any) that need to be changed. --Ricky81682 05:15, Nov 4, 2004 (UTC)

Pink Floyd

It doesn't mention it in the article, but I've always interpreted this cover as a reference to Pink Floyd's The Wall. The font is the same too. Any thoughts? --Wifidelity (talk) 22:48, 9 January 2008 (UTC)

The Wall wasn't released until December 1979, Off The Wall was released in August 1979. So I don't believe there's any reference there. Also given the fact the albums are completely different styles of music.

CD Cover

The cover of the recent CD reissue's been cropped so you can't see his face. Presumably because that face is not his current face. I'm only speculating, hence not adding it to the article. Itself. Z0r.

The first pressings of the album on Compact Disc (first in 1982/3) were the "face cover". This was also the front cover seen on the original vinyl pressing. The back cover of the vinyl displayed his legs and shoes, making it a full body shot if you held it open. This was also featured on the first compact disc pressing in 1982/3. The so-called "Special Edition" image featured here was from a 1991 CD re-issue which simply used the legs/shoes only as the front cover. Hope that helps. Xm2631 (talk) 23:44, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Otwspecialed.jpg

Image:Otwspecialed.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Comment

I'm not going to do a full GA review but here are a couple pointers.

  • Writers should be listed by full name.
  • Use a times sign (×) for the certifications. Also, RIAA uses "6× Multi-Platinum".

Links

Someone should fix the link to "Rock With Me" so that it doesn't go to the disambiguation page. I would've done this, but the page is locked. 70.48.248.59 (talk) 00:39, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

h

5xPlatinum

Excuse me, the album has gone 5xPlatinum in the UK according to ALL sources, whle the lame source that supports the 1xPlatinum cert. is a pathetic blank page! Get serious and restore the 5xPlat. cert. which existed in the page since the creation of wikipedia, ok? the album has sold well over 1.500.000 copies in the UK (officially) and sales have been reported standing well over 2 million records which qualifies the album for an 8xPlatinum certification but this is clearly a BPI issue. So how about changing the cert. to 5xP cause I can't edit anything in the page, since I am considered to be a "new" member of wikipedia!

Error in production-part

This article is locked, so I hope somebody else can edit this.

There are several references to footnote 16 which should be reviewed. I think it would be better to reference the actual interview track on the 2001 special edition, and not a general reference to footnoote 16 as " Jackson, Michael. Off the Wall Special Edition Audio".

The following is just plain wrong: "She's out of My Life" was written by Jones three years prior, Jackson heard and enjoyed it, Jones allowed him to use it on the record.[16]

I also disagree on some of the other comments refering to footnote 16.

The track was written by Tom_Bahler, who is rightfully credited in the track list in ths article.

I have transcribed and cited the 2001 special edition audio interview #3 with Quincy Jones under She's_out_of_My_Life.

I am writing to repeat what the above unnamed person wrote. According to one line in the Wikipedia article it states: ""She's out of My Life" was written by (Quincy) Jones, three years prior, etc." Then at the bottom of the article, it states correctly that Tom Bahler wrote the song, as does the album itself. Please correct the mistake.204.80.61.110 (talk) 15:41, 1 July 2009 (UTC)Bennett Turk
