Not purely RC Cemetery[edit]

There are two cemeteries in Nugee, of which the RC Cemetery is but one, so there is a danger of confusing readers. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission records one WWI war grave under "Nugee Cemetery" and five of WWII under "Nugee Roman Catholic Cemetery". No, it's just one big Roman Catholic Cemetery, but it permits non-Catholics to be buried there too (but I think the most likely reason for non-Catholics buried there would be to be buried with a Catholic family member already there or planning to be buried there). I suspect it is the CWGC who have named the cemetery differently for WW1 and WW2. Although I cannot determine the religion of John Joseph Naylor (the WW1 burial), he is buried with his mother (who died in 1952, so likely the person who decided where her son was buried) and her funeral notice says her funeral will take place at a Roman Catholic church, so it is highly probable that the Naylors were Catholic.
