Untitled[edit]

I am unaware of Common Fiscal distribution outside of Africa, and the distribution section is still very specific to southern africa. If the bird occurs elsewhere, please update the article, and also improve the range description for Africa north of Zimbabwe. Rudivs 15:45, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Anyone got an appropriate picture that's wikipedia licence freindly? Rudivs 15:45, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I am not sure if the introduction is correct. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the Fiscal Shrike actually does not eat most of the prey it impales on thorns and barbed wire. As it stands in the article, it implies that the bird will definitely eat the prey it has impaled. This might be incorrect. Oom Kosie (talk) 16:03, 17 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have uploaded a picture which shows the shrike with prey that it has just impaled on an acacia thorn. I wonder if it could be used in the article? The quality is unfortunately not very good, as it was hastily taken with a point-and-shoot camera in low light through a window. I am pleased with the job the camera's autofocus did, though. The image does illustrate the preying behaviour of the bird well, though, and also shows the V of white feathers on its back, which the current image does not show.
