Talk:No Love for Johnnie

The plot summary, if you've seen the film, doesn't make sense unless it accepts that Johnnie has been RE-elected, and is not a newly elected MP, as one key scene at the beginning of the left-wing conspiracy which uses him makes clear. We are led to believe that he's a serving MP of some seniority ( as the PM makes clear at the end of the film) who has been held back because his wife is on the far left of him. Pity Box and Thomas so liked making the film - it lacks edge precisely because of that, and because of its appeal to the conventional wisdom of the centre, which sustained the Tory fifties and early sixties. Not that accurate about the 1950-51 Labour Government - on top of which, it asks us to assume that Labour won the 1951 electionDelahays (talk) 23:24, 5 January 2018 (UTC)

Oliver Reed
