Article summary and her criticism to Rizieq[edit]

While I agree that she got interest in Google Searches during her criticism with Rizieq, I don't think that it could be seen as one of the thing that "defines" her. She is already famous before her criticism, and discussing Rizieq case on the summary section is giving undue weight to her criticism.SunDawn (talk) 13:03, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Many people in Indonesia and abroad had never heard of Nikita Mirzani until her November 2020 criticism of Rizieq. Her acting career in B-grade horror films such as Tali Pocong Perawan 2 and Drakula Cinta did not result in widespread broadsheet media coverage or academic discussion. Her criticism of Rizieq has elevated her fame. There are floral congratulatory boards on the street outside Jakarta Police Headquarters, praising her courage. She has a become a symbol of resistance against Rizieq. People protesting against FPI and Rizieq are carrying banners featuring Nikita. Nikita herself acknowledges that she has gone viral since her criticism and achieved lucrative commercial endorsements because of this.SiberianCat (talk) 17:50, 28 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
On the contrary, I have heard about her way before Shihab, for me personally is her debacle with Dipo Latief, and also the prostitution sting. She is also a quite relatable TV host. She also already had millions of followers on her Instagram before her debacle with Rizieq. While I do agree that it puts her on the limelight right now, her debacle with Rizieq is not the one that puts her into fame. If we wanted to put that on summary, I think some of other highlights of her life should also be on the summary.SunDawn (talk) 10:58, 29 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
OK, agreed; other "highlights" of her life now added to introductory summary. While she has been popular in the online tabloids and the fatuous celeb gossip TV shows for almost a decade, I had been blissfully unaware of her existence until she emerged as a symbol of resistance against Rizieq (the polar opposite of Rizieq in many ways). There are numerous Indonesian "celebs" and "selebgrams" who don't yet feature on English Wikipedia - even though many have been embroiled in scandalous legal cases, torrid relationships, and/or have been recruited/used by political parties. Nikita is different insofar as she has emerged as an outrageous, outspoken, proudly plebeian poster-woman in defense of Pancasila. It's possible that within a year, her name will start appearing in English-language academic tomes and papers on Indonesian politics and society. Fainéant scholars might appreciate Wikipedia as a starting point for preliminary research. SiberianCat (talk) 12:27, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
