Direction of Travel/Inventory[edit]

NY 840 is marked East-West, but the reference markers count upward from the east terminus, indicating that it's inventoried south to north. Based on that, I did the exit listing, with the two grade intersections at the end, in that direction. I still kept the termini labeled west and east as marked on the route, as I did drive the entire route (in both directions) earlier today prior to creating this article. So, please bear this in mind prior to changing directions, or add comments/questions here. For what it's worth, Google Earth's pictures pre-date this highway's existence. I changed the entire article to read east-west since that's how the route is signed in the field and listed in the route log. The traffic counts (which feed off the reference markers) indicate a north-south routing, but since everything else indicates east-west, that's what I went with. – TMF 01:46, 31 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Update to Major Intersections[edit]

To say I’m impressed with what was done with this article, in particular the Major Intersections, is an understatement. I was out driving in Utica to track down some other roads that were in my plans and stumbled on this route, so I quickly drove it and took notes (and, pictures of one of the “bad” reference markers). Since I hadn’t done any prior exit listings, I copied from another article (already, I can’t remember which one) and adapted as best I could. Thank you for everything you’ve added, I’m studying how things were done for when they might be of use in another project down the road (no pun intended). Fwgoebel 04:17, 12 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
