Page needs expanding but am on the case[edit]

I've just transferred this over from the original page (created with Neiman spelled Nieman) and will be back to expand it with further information, list of winners, etc. I'm on its case now. Mabalu (talk) 04:12, 22 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There are still a lot of obvious gaps, but I've filled in as much as possible as I could confirm/double-check using Google. There are a few people such as Slim Keith that I can see won the award, but can't find out which year. What's really needed is an official list that shows who won in which years. Incredibly, it proved tougher to find information on newer winners than it has historical winners! I'll continue keeping an eye out for further information but any help is very welcome! I have filled in the gaps for 1938 to 1969 from McDowell's Directory of 20thC Fashion. It's interesting because it shows that neither Rudi Gernreich nor Emilio Pucci won an award, despite numerous Internet biographies/sources stating otherwise. Rudi Gernreich[edit]

DID Rudi Gernreich definitely win in 1961? Despite numerous sources naming Gernreich as a 1961 winner, have found a couple of quotes from contemporary articles with a detailed list the 1961 winners and Gernreich is not mentioned. According to McDowell's Directory of 20th Century Fashion, neither Gernreich nor Emilio Pucci (according to many Internet sources, a second-time winner in 1967) received this award. Surprising, actually. Mabalu (talk) 16:49, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

John Cavanagh[edit]

Just a note that this 1939 award winner should not be confused with John Cavanagh (designer), the British couturier who opened his London couture house in the 1950s. I will have to try and work out who exactly THIS Cavanagh was. Mabalu (talk) 00:37, 23 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A nice rep at Neiman Marcus sent a press release in response to an email enquiry listing all the official winners, including a few I hadn't known about.
