Ned StarkEddard Stark – "Ned" is just his nickname, not his full name, and anyway he's more known as "Eddard Stark" or "Lord Eddard". It's also inconsistent with the naming of Catelyn Stark (not "Cat") or Danerys Targaryen (not "Dany") RR (talk) 17:46, 14 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose WP:UCN clearly, even in the books, the common name is "Ned" -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 05:27, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment only: I haven't read the books or seen the show. I'm familiar with the name "Ned Stark", but not "Eddard Stark". I consider myself too ignorant on the subject to say overall, but "Ned" is the common name for this sample size of one. --BDD (talk) 14:39, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: I have no strong opinion on this topic; I don't really think there's a convincing case for making either form primary. The comparison to the Daenerys and Catelyn articles is misleading, though, because those are nicknames that are never used with the characters' surnames. Almost no one calls them "Dany Targaryen" or "Cat Stark," either within the fiction or in commentary on it. But people do call him "Ned Stark," in the books and show and when discussing them. • Oppose. WP:COMMONNAME is overwhelmingly Ned Stark. Zarcadia (talk) 16:06, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Sure, he's called "Ned" in the books and the show, but his name is Eddard. He's referred to as Eddard multiple times in the show/books. "Ned" is common name just as much as "Danny" and "Cat" are for "Danerys" and "Catelyn," as the initial request points out. Keeping the page here and not at Eddard would be inconsistent. Havensfire (talk) 19:05, 15 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    • Except the common name is "Daenerys" (or "Khaleesi", but that's a title) and "Catelyn" in the real world. Same as "Ned" -- 65.94.43.89 (talk) 00:49, 18 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per WP:COMMONNAME and the previous move request. @SMcCandlish: noted some stats in his support of the move to Ned Stark. Plus if you read the novel, in the Eddard POV chapters GRRM actually refers to him as "Ned" (Ned said, Ned cursed, check Google books) even though the chapters are named Eddard.— TAnthonyTalk 00:24, 16 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. I'm unpersuaded by the above argument that Catelyn is also called Cat in the books all the time, but we didn't move the article to that name. The usage simply isn't as pervasive. Yes, various characters have nicknames, but the "Ned" one has leapt off the page and screen into public usage. The very statement 'Sure, he's called "Ned" in the books and the show, but his name is Eddard' is an unwitting argument, per WP:COMMONNAME, against this move, despite appearing in a "Support" !vote. By way of analogy, note that Gollum, from The Lord of the Rings is that article title, not the character's real name, Sméagol. There are many other such examples, e.g. Scotty (Star Trek), not Montgomery Scott, even though it required parenthetical disambiguation to keep it at the common name, Scotty.  — SMcCandlish ¢ ≽ʌⱷ҅ʌ≼  12:41, 18 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Jon Snow[edit]

Now that it has been explicitly revealed on the show, shouldn't we change the family tree to denote that Jon is Lyanna's son and not Ned's? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.194.163.33 (talk) 14:03, 14 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
