Lead[edit]

Male NFL Cheerleaders[edit]

Steelerettes "Professional" Cheerleaders?[edit]

They were cheerleaders for the Steelers, however they do not belong on this page. Or it should be noted that they were not professionals as in paid dancers. They were co-eds from a junior college and maintained 2.0 GPAs to participate as cheerleaders. Pro means "Paid." Nothing online, even on their page shows that they were paid to perform as professional cheerleaders.

While the Steelerettes were the "official" cheerleaders, they cannot and should not be placed in the same categories as today's sideline strippers. There should be a very clear line between the recent generations of professional cheerleaders (strippers) and earlier cheerleaders who were unpaid and did it solely to support their favorite team

It doesn't matter if they're professionals, as the Green Bay Packers cheerleaders were unpaid (as of right now). Zappa (talk) 00:36, 8 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Picture[edit]

May I ask why the picure near the bottom is captioned "The Washington Redskins Cheerleaders" but yet are dressed in purple uniforms and are holding gold pom-poms? Neither gold nor purlple are colors of the Washington Redskins.

Cheerleading squads don't have to wear their respective uniform colors whenever they appear in public. Besides, it was a military entertainment event. Zappa (talk) 00:36, 8 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Never had cheerleaders?[edit]

There is three teams which are said to never have had cheerleaders. I thought it somewhat standard to have them. But that I am interested in, WHY they didn't? Could/should there be some explanation? 82.141.95.39 (talk) 06:28, 17 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

For the Packers, even though they still have theirs, a poll stated that half of the population didn't need them. For the Chicago Honey Bears, the Bears owner Virginia Halas McCaskey thought of them as sex symbols and degrading to women. But those are for the one that USED to have them. For the ones that NEVER had them, they probably had the same thoughts as McCaskey or the Green Bay population. Zappa (talk) 00:36, 8 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Pruning "notables" lists[edit]

Given that a) notability is not inherited, b) most NFL cheerleaders are models of some sort, and c) many of the cheerleaders only did the job for a year (meaning that this is really a biographical footnote, not the other way around), I'm going to remove all redlinked, non-wl'ed, and redirected names. In short, if they don't have a BIO article about themselves, they don't meet GNG, and therefore aren't really notable. MSJapan (talk) 23:30, 19 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Broadcast networks no longer showing NFL cheerleaders[edit]

Nfl wont show shots of cheerleaders anymore especially after the Timberlake & Janet Jackson controversy. There are theories that the Parent Television council is behind this. LA Rams male cheerleaders[edit]

I was a Los Angeles Rams Cheerleader in the early 1980’s along side 16 other guys. I was on a LA Rams Cheerleader Poster poster and pictured in the LA Rams game football program. I danced and performed along side the the lady’s on the squad during halftime shows.
