Proposal to edit myelin protein zero article[edit]

I'd like to add to more information to this article. I propose the following changes to improve the Myelin Protein Zero article:

-The article currently has two information sections: Function and Interactions. I'd like to improve the article by adding more specific sections. I'd like to add a:

  • Structure section discussing the structure of myelin protein zero
  • Mutation section: discussing the effects of myelin protein zero mutations
  • Association with Charcot-Marie Tooth Disease and Derjerine -Sottas Disease section: discussing how myelin protein zero plays a role in these two diseases

I'd also like to add more information to the function section. Specifically:

  • How myelin protein zero expression is induced by axon signals
  • How myelin protein zero is responsible for keeping the myelin sheaths together by self adhering to other myelin protein zeros

I'd also like to add more information to the interactions sections. Specifically:

  • Myelin depends on homophilic interactions with other myelin protein zero molecules
  • How the cytoplastmic domain of myelin protein zero folds into secondary structures
  • How myelin protein zero interacts with lipids and tryptophan to adhere to the neuron membrane

If you have any thoughts on this, I'd really appreciate feedback or suggestions.

Additionally I would like to take some of content that is currently in the Function paragraph (but talks more about structure) and move it to a new section called structure.Naironfire (talk) 22:09, 17 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
