Style quibble[edit]

I believe there's no need to announce people in this way, " her former husband, her former parents-in-law, her former brother-in-law, the alleged mistress of her former father-in-law..."

Former-x everyone is unwieldy. I'd like to change it to "consisting of her ex-husband, his parents, his brother, his father's alleged mistress..." If there's no objection I'll go ahead in a couple of days. Manytexts (talk) 03:10, 8 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

I would vote merge, since the article killing of Abby Choi can be developed and add in more details about the model here.

Improvements needed[edit]

In hk, where i live, this news was on the tv for 2 weeks. it is amazing that this is not on the 24th of February article, and how it has not appeared on the wikipedia news. Thehistorianisaac (talk) 13:53, 19 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

dispute on birthdate[edit]

Those who cannot understand Cantonese should not tamper with this! They include most of the editors active on the (Standard) Chinese version of Wikipedia. Choi's Instagram account shows that she consistently celebrated her own birthday on '11th July'(https://www.ettoday.net/news/20230301/2449561.htm). The props used in the ritual for 'retrieving her lost soul' had '15th July 1994' written as her birthdate(https://www.singtao.ca/6187770/2023-02-28/news-%E8%94%A1%E5%A4%A9%E9%B3%B3%E7%A2%8E%E5%B1%8D%E6%A1%88%EF%BD%9C%E5%AE%B6%E5%B1%AC%E3%80%8C%E9%A0%AD%E4%B8%83%E3%80%8D%E8%BE%A6%E6%B3%95%E4%BA%8B+%E6%8B%9B%E9%AD%82%E5%B8%AB%E5%82%85%EF%B8%B0abby%E9%AD%82%E9%AD%84%E4%B8%8D%E9%BD%8A). This difference sparked some debate – certain wizards said they 'knew' that a grave mistake had been made! In response, the wizard responsible for this explained in Cantonese that she learned exactly when Choi was born and was killed through supernatural means instead of by this-worldly methods(https://eastweek.my-magazine.me/main/116790).202.68.172.246 (talk) 14:15, 8 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

More research into this issue shows that much of the above paragraph is wrong. I apologize for making this mistake. The props used for certain supernatural rituals show a birthdate written in Chinese characters that can be converted to '15th, July, 1994'(https://www.stheadline.com/breaking-news/3203833/%E8%94%A1%E5%A4%A9%E9%B3%B3%E7%A2%8E%E5%B1%8D%E6%A1%88%E5%AE%B6%E5%B1%AC%E9%A0%AD%E4%B8%83%E8%BE%A6%E6%B3%95%E4%BA%8B-%E6%8B%9B%E9%AD%82%E5%B8%AB%E5%82%85Abby%E9%AD%82%E9%AD%84%E4%B8%8D%E9%BD%8A). This physical evidence is the most reliable source for that exposed to the public so far. There is no doubt that the deceased's family must have been willing to give the Hong Kong mage in charge that piece of information. However, while speaking to reporters, she stressed that it was obtained through spirits instead(http://eastweek.my-magazine.me/main/116790).202.68.172.246 (talk) 19:56, 19 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

'https://www.instagram.com/p/Cf2vtLSB1rN/' is dated 11th, July, 2022. Some people took that as her birthday and wrote it on the (Standard) Chinese version of Wikipedia(https://zh.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=%E8%94%A1%E5%A4%A9%E9%B3%B3%E7%A2%8E%E5%B1%8D%E6%A1%88&diff=76138087&oldid=76138079)(https://zh.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=%E8%94%A1%E5%A4%A9%E9%B3%B3&diff=76138981&oldid=76112957). Soon, a Taiwanese mage hedgingly quoted it on a Facebook post of his(https://www.facebook.com/kbc928/posts/pfbid0jZuukS2XyjnHRsNq58dKoETebN1hKV7EBRG7WN3R2jLBMhbk112C2KbXw7Xa1vaWl). Careless journalists spread that everywhere subsequently – many people(including me) were tricked by them. Specifically, 'https://www.ettoday.net/news/20230301/2449561.htm' includes some false verfication. In fact, 'https://www.bastillepost.com/hongkong/article/10989158-%e6%96%b9%e5%aa%9b%e9%a6%99%e8%82%a9%e7%be%8e%e8%85%bf%e6%90%b6%e6%99%92%e4%b8%bb%e8%a7%92%e9%8f%a1%e9%a0%ad-%e5%85%ac%e4%b8%bbstyle%e5%8f%83%e5%8a%a0%e5%a5%bd%e5%a7%8a%e5%a6%b9%e7%94%9f%e6%97%a5part/' proves that that very birthday party was held on or before 9th, July, 2022. Furthermore, Abby Choi's Instagram posts about her own birthday celebrations went online on different days of July each year(https://www.instagram.com/xxabbyc/) – they are inconsistent even on the Chinese calendar; for example, 'https://www.instagram.com/p/CCxUmffgfAj/' is dated 18th, July, 2020.202.68.172.246 (talk) 10:12, 20 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

problem with quasi-advertisement[edit]

We known that L'Officiel's editors do not belong to the kind who deal in investigative journalism. Some exclusive factual claims(about her appearance on certain magazines) on 'https://www.lofficielmonaco.com/fashion/from-hong-kong-to-paris-the-rise-of-the-style-icon-abby-choi' cannot be verified yet, but many news articles have them copied without showing any doubt.202.68.172.246 (talk) 18:26, 21 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
