This article is written in American English, which has its own spelling conventions (color, defense, traveled) and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.

Name[edit]

Aside from the WP:NATURALDAB of this title and its closer translation of the Chinese name and sense, Google Scholar shows that, although "Ministry of Justice" is more common than "Ministry of Punishment(s)", that's largely because of many, many results coming from the modern ROC and PRC ministries. Thanks for creating these much-needed articles on Imperial China. For what's it's worth, Charles Hucker himself uses "Ministry of Justice" in his later Dictionary of Official Titles in Imperial China (p. 245), published 1985.
