Why is this page protected? And why is changing "encompass" to "ecompasses", which given the fact that the subject in the lead is singular, happens to be the correct grammatical form, a subject of reversion? — MC MasterChef :: Leave a tip — 01:35, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

The author of the change is a banned user who is not allowed to edit anything on Wikipedia. Under an arbcom ruling, every change he makes is meant to be reverted. Quite simply he is not allowed to come on Wikipedia to so much as dot an eye. (He was banned for a year for stalking users and pasting abuse about people.) If you see apparently good changes disappearing like that it isn't the quality of the changes that is the issue, but the fact that their author is not allowed to make any contribution whatsoever on Wikipedia. That banned user may entitled to edit Wikipedia again on 24 October 2006, if he doesn't use any anonymous IPs to get around the ban. (Fat chance. It was found that he had been using an IP to edit a large number of pages. All were promptly rolled back. He tried immediately to create a new identity and undo all the rollbacks. They were temporarily protected to stop that. (He has since thrown a tantrum and targeted a host of others, including this one the moment it was unlocked. He is like that, which is why he is treated like a joke on WP. Everything he is found to have touched since his original ban on 1 September is rolled back, or if he created it, speedily deleted. He will eventually get the message that WP does not want him and will not tolerate him. (You get the odd nutty vandal like that around here. They may be adults but they act like tantrum-throwing 2 year olds, and Skyring acts like the ultimate tantrum-throwing 2 year old sometimes!) lol FearÉIREANN\^(caint) 02:03, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

He is acting the prat again, so the page has had to be protected, again. Leave it for a while, MC, and he'll probably find some other plaything to play/vandalise. (If you want, cut'n'paste the text to your own harddrive and do a rewrite there, then led an admin know when to unlock it so that you can add any changes in. Skyring is one prize asshole. List, please[edit]

Can we get a list of operations? I see there's a list for WWII but there doesn't seem to be one for 'other than war'. --208.65.188.23 (talk) 02:33, 12 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It might be an impractically long list, as all military operations other than war can span thousands and thousands of operations over the past 60 years. Drug interdictions, anti-terrorist operations, anti-piracy, and even search-and-rescue could constitute MOOTW. --Petercorless (talk) 22:38, 28 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
