In "The Brain that Wouldn't Die", Mike (character) mentions a childhood incident happening near St Charles, Illinois, (hometown of Michael J Nelson). I was going to add this but, now I think about it, constructing an entire biography for this character would probably be hideously time-consuming and contradictory, so I'll just leave it here.
