Weight[edit]

I would like to know how dangerous is this spider? How toxic is the venom?

"An adult female has a body roughly 4 inches (10cm) long, with a legspan of 6-7 inches, and a weight of approximately 15 to 16 grams."

Isn't it a bit precice? 15-16 grams? My adult female is way over 15 grams. I like my spiders to be fat, my friend likes 'em skinny, the difference is more than one gram, both can be found in nature. Fjejsing 00:28, 5 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, i was wondering if anyone else thought that the diet section of this article was more of a tutorial than an encyclopedia, maybe I'm just paranoid, thanks! JHedges 11:15, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

i edited this, as i felt that having one reference of the tarantula keepers' guide is not sufficient to justify they are one of the longest lived Theraphosidae — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.34.81.23 (talk) 20:26, 17 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

General tidy up and more information needed[edit]

I've had a quick clean up (very quick) of this article and it certainly needs more done to it.

Considering that this is the species most people think of when you say the word "tarantula" it really does need to be better than this. I'll be having a proper look at it when I get home tonight, see if I can gather up some of those elusive arthropod references that are seemingly and shockingly rare. Pet section[edit]

This sort of "care sheet" style section has no place on wikipedia. This should be a properly cited scientific style article and not a place to find out how to look after said animal. In any case it wasnt even slightly referenced. Man Over-bored (talk) 15:35, 28 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
