[Untitled][edit]

Metsepole was county in today's Northwest Vidzeme covering less than half of territory of Vidzeme's Livonians, not all of their territory as seems from this article and not stretching to Gauja and Daugava rivers. Turaida was another county. Puuce (talk) 10:31, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Depopolated land?[edit]

Which sources claim those things?

During the Livonian Crusade, once prosperous Metsepole was devastated, and the whole country was almost completely depopulated. This vacuum was filled by Latgallians, and Semigallians, who started to move into the area around 1220.[citation needed]

After those attacks, a plague started and as a result Metsepole was left depopulated and plundered.

Even according to The Chronicle of Henry of Livonia in 1223 was another raid to Metsepole and attacking troops found lot people and loot. From "almost completely depopulated" area? Minnekon (talk) 19:27, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
