What happened to versions prior to 1.1[edit]

Hi, I am sure there was a version 1.0, most probably released on January 25, 2002 as stated as the initial release date of the software. I think this information should be added to the article. Cheers --kgh (talk) 19:42, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

It is true that there is a version 1.0. But it is so outdated that you can't find the release notes of it and the download link to the respective versions. Hydriz (talk) 15:06, 4 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
this list seems to say there wasn't a version 1 and here it states that 1.1 the first stable release to use proper version numbers Mark (talk) 01:52, 16 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Related discussion[edit]

This article has been mentioned as an example in a discussion about policy: WP:VPP#Are software changelogs acceptable?67.14.236.50 (talk) 01:51, 4 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Since MediaWiki is the "Wikipedia" software engine, and since Wikipedia staff actively makes changes to it, then MediaWiki gets an exception by default. • SbmeirowTalk • 13:14, 4 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

1.5 date[edit]

It says: 1.5 (last version to support MySQL 3) October 5, 2005

However, Wikipedia switched to 1.5 in June 2005. Did Wikipedia use a beta version? Sure. But Wikipedia is by far the largest site using MediaWiki so for the vast majority of its users the real release date was in June.
