"The use of the Marlboro Man campaign had very significant and immediate effects on sales. In 1955, when the Marlboro Man campaign was started, sales were at $5 billion. By 1957, sales were at $20 billion, representing a 300% increase within two years." This statement seems extremely unlikely given current sales at Altria, which is the holding company of Philip Morris USA. Perhaps the 5 and 20 billion figures referred to are volume numbers (cigarette sticks) instead of dollar sales? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.10.94.251 (talk) 20:33, 9 March 2015 (UTC)

I know that Selleck appeared in ads for the Salem brand. To my knowledge, never for Marlboro. 71.72.217.102 22:33, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

I worked at the Leo Burnett Advertising Agency in Chicago, where the 'Marlboro Man" ad campaign was born. Tom Selleck was, indeed, a Marlboro Man in print and billboard commercials. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.121.49.251 (talk) 21:51, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Merle Lambert aka Tex Lambert,in Hollywood,a well known stunt actor/xtras/in screen extras guild for many years...He was also........The Marlboro Man advertisement for many years. I think he would have been the 2nd Marlboro Man? He played in lots of cowboy movies, doing stunts for the staring actor, as was done in those days. He died of tong & throat cancer sometime in the 70's? His Hollywood friends & co workers had a big fund raising event for him to help cover cost of hosiptal & treatment. Can anyone add to this in details... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Wercute (talkcontribs) 00:52, 26 October 2008 (UTC)
