Gosselaar's ethnicity[edit]

I've looked over the evidence towards Mark-Paul Gosselaar's ethnic background is a very simple topic, and it was explained by Gosselaar himself: He is Dutch-Jewish on his father's side, and Filipino on his mother's side. https://sites.google.com/site/washingtonpostgosselaar/home He states that his father was born in France, but is Dutch, and his mother is Filipino, but born in Indonesia. The "Dutch-Indonesian descent" about her mother was completely made up by IDBM, and taken as fact by a few websites.

Gosselaar's mother being of Filipino descent also connects with him learning Tagalog at home. I want to precise this in the Talk section, because someone has been constantly changing it back to "Dutch-Indonesian descent" for seemingly no reason, even though I added the citation every single time. Please stop adding The Filipino reference. He never said it. It's a fake article. It's a doctored/edited/altered version of the original article, this one. All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 17:33, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Doctored Washington Post article[edit]

For future reference:

There is a doctored article going around of an original Mark-Paul Gosselaar interview. In the doctored version, someone changed "Indonesian" to "Filipino" and "Dutch" to "Dutch and Tagalog." He never said it. This is the original article, at the Washington Post's site. And This is the doctored/fake version of the exact same article. Original "Washington, D.C.: Wikipedia says that you are fluent in Dutch. Is that true? It must be if Wikipedia says it....
Mark-Paul Gosselaar: My mother is Indonesian and my father is Dutch and at one time I was fluent in Dutch while I was living at home."
Doctored - "Washington, D.C.: Wikipedia says that you are fluent in Dutch. Is that true? It must be if Wikipedia says it....
Mark-Paul Gosselaar: It's actually a complicated story. My father is Dutch, but he was born in France and my mother is Filipino, but she was born in Indonesia. My mother is Filipino and my father is Dutch and at one time I was fluent in Dutch and Tagalog while I was living at home." All Hallow's Wraith (talk) 17:43, 22 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

half?[edit]

he casually states that his mother is indonesian, but all the sources indicate she's HALF indonesian (and half dutch). so isn't he 1/4 indonesian then, not half?

also, "indonesian from bali" and ethnic "balinese" are not the same thing. which is she? 2601:19C:527F:7890:486E:BFA7:291E:B43 (talk) 09:47, 10 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
