Plagiarism[edit]

The sources in this article are not very strong. The obituaries contain some contradictory information and do not have very reputable authorship. The historical preservation websites seem to be more informational, but again they aren't very thorough. What is much more concerning is the amount of plagiarism in this article:

Possible plagiarism in the second sentence of the "Early Life" section.
"Political Activity" section is plagiarized from her obituary.
Second sentence of the lead is plagiarized (also not even cited).
Hard to analyze the validity of the second source -- it was apparently written by someone who knew Campbell personally but there is no byline to permit further investigation and should probably be removed.
Last paragraph in "Archaeology and Local History" is plagiarized.

Rewritten Article and Possible Future Edits[edit]

Hello! I'd like to briefly describe the recent major edits I have made to this article and ways in which I think this article could still be improved. Further details on my edits can be found in the edit history for the Marion Campbell (archaeologist) article.

In light of the fact that most information in this article was plagiarized, I have gone through each source to rewrite the entire article in order to remove the plagiarized sections. I have also added new sources and information which I believe improve the article. In addition to adding more information, I have also added and removed some headings, reorganized the article, and wrote a new more detailed lead. That said, I have included a list of things that could still be done to improve the article.

I was unable to find any pictures of Marion Campbell or Kilberry Castle that satisfied Wikipedia's image policies. It would be great if someone could find some, though I'm not too sure any exist!
I am uncertain about the amount of detail in the lead. On one hand, I don't want to overpower this short article with a long, overly-detailed lead. On the other hand, I feel like the current lead is not as descriptive as others on Wikipedia. I may play around with adding more details and rewriting it, but I am very open to advice.
I'm not very pleased with how "Archaeologist and Historian" is currently organized. I feel like it could benefit from subheadings since I already have the paragraphs split into categories, but then again the writing may be too short to warrant subsections. I have also considered arranging the information chronologically, like a biography, but I wasn't sure how to place ongoing activities that lasted for 20+ years since they don't fit neatly into a chronology.
There is more information on Marion Campbell out there. There is a book called "Yesterday was Summer" by Marian Pallister and David Adams McGilp that is a biography of Campbell. Additionally, "Argyll: the Enduring Heartland" includes an introductory biography about Campbell and her own writings about her life. Due to time and budget constraints, I was unable to obtain these resources. However, I think they would make wonderful and informative contributions to this article!
