Extra Platforms[edit]

The platforms on the Suburban tracks were not removed in 1927 - they were removed in the 1980s some time. The extra platforms remained long after the sextuplication. JROBBO 22:17, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can you reference this or is it OR? Quaidy 23:47, 28 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Do you know what "original research" is? Original research is like writing an essay on "the performance of trains stopping at Macdonaldtown" - an unsourced fact does not mean original research. I know for a fact that the platform remains were not demolished in 1927 - they were there for many more decades afterwards, and were demolished some time in the 80s. Ask around - I am right. Ok then, I will stand corrected. Its just that I had a reference suggesting that they went in the 1920's, thats all. Quaidy 01:05, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pink[edit]

This railway station was painted pink by a uni student in a prank in the mid/late 1980s. I remember this well and was a news story at the time. Unfortunately gettting an RS would involve trawling through smh archives of the time, unless someone has digital access. (?) Cheers, Casliber (talk · contribs) 23:31, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can try Factiva. Thanks for the heads up. JRG (talk) 04:39, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I remember this so well and this is the reason I actually looked up this page. I lived in Newtown (as an ex-Syd Uni student) and worked in the city, from May 1985 until Dec 1986, so I can confirm the painting was done during this time as I saw it during one of my daily commutes. It was painted completely pink (a lovely pastel pinky-orange colour) from one end to the other, including all shelters, signs, and seating. Hilarious. Google has indexed an article from the SMH regarding this so I have added a cited paragraph about it. AshleyGittins (talk) 08:22, 14 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
