Merge of the two marriage income tax cases[edit]

Before creation of the married filing status by Congress, the splitting of spouses incomes depended on whether the taxpayer lived in a community property state as in Poe v. Seaborn or lived in a common law state as in the case here.

It would be much better if both cases are discussed in on article and search in wikipedia for either case would link or lead to the combined article. A proposed title may be income splitting in US income tax before the married filing status and each case could get a section. Sound good or not? Lingust (talk) 21:01, 27 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
