Concerns with sources[edit]

Out of 16 sources over half (9) cite searchengineland.com is there some selection bias within the sources being chosen? Considering looking into these and finding more authoritative secondary and tertiary sources for some topics. - Kieran21 (talk) 03:38, 6 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Merge with Search Engine Optimization?[edit]

A question more than a suggestion at this point. Does this actually need to be it's own article, or could it be merged into Search Engine Optimization? There are several areas within SEO that do not have their own articles (I've mentioned some of these on Talk over at SEO). - Kieran21 (talk) 03:37, 6 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Local SEO is the process of optimizing a website to appear in local search engine results. This type of search engine optimization (SEO) is focused on optimizing a business’ online presence in order to gain visibility in local search results. It is also known as local search engine marketing (SEM) or local search engine optimization (LSEO).

The goal of local SEO is to increase a business’ visibility in local search results and to make sure that customers can find the business’ website and contact information when they search for a related product or service. This is done by optimizing a business’ website for local search terms, creating content that is tailored to local customers, and working with local directories and review sites.

Google’s recent updates to their algorithms have made local SEO even more important. Google’s Possum update in 2016 placed greater emphasis on proximity and relevance when it comes to local search results. This update also included a stronger emphasis on domain authority and relevance when it comes to local search results. Google’s Pigeon update in 2014 improved the accuracy and relevance of local search results by taking into account additional signals, such as distance and location.

Google’s most recent local search update, the Google My Business Update, has made it easier for businesses to manage their online presence. This update allows businesses to manage their online presence through a single dashboard, which includes the ability to update their business information, respond to reviews, and track analytics. This update also makes it easier for businesses to appear in local search results, as Google now takes into account the business’ Google My Business page when determining local search rankings.  Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Melmann 20:31, 9 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
