Name[edit]

"Lewellyn" seems to be a mistake. Llewellyn Setter is currently a redirect to English Setter, so if the two are different enough to have different articles that needs to be fixed. If they aren't, then this article should be merged into English Setter. Also, Google searching suggests that the correct (or at least most used) spelling is "Llewellin". —KCinDC (talk) 04:31, 15 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merge[edit]

I wonder if this article should be merged to the English Setter article? I do see the question was asked previously a few years ago.

There is already mention of the Llewellin within the English Setter article although that piece is lacking citations. It is also stated within this Llewellin article: "it is usually only considered a strain of English setter rather than a breed in its own right."

Also, within the only reference that is cited for this article (The Sporting Dog, Graham, 1904) it states: "They would as well go further and drop the 'pure' idea altogether, letting Llewellin blood stand for what it is - an influential but not separate element in English setter breeding."

Any thoughts on the suggestion of a merge? I have also posted this on the English setter talk page for comment/discussion.

Please hold the merge discussion, as is customary, on the talk page of the target article. Please go to Talk:English Setter#Merge to support or oppose the proposal. Fiddle Faddle (talk) 21:27, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
